Is the green lipped mussel freeze dried?

Answer by ChewyJan 07, 2025
The green lipped mussel used in this supplement powder is carefully freeze-dried. This process is crucial as it helps to retain all the beneficial fats, proteins, and micronutrients found naturally in green-lipped mussels.

Does the measurement mean to use this for 1 meal a day or for every meal?

Answer by ChewyJul 30, 2024
The recommended dosage should be given once daily. The dose can be split up into morning and evening if preferred, but ideally it would be given as a single dose in the mornings as our pet's stomach acid is typically a bit lower in the mornings.

Are these cooked or raw? What is the phos level (dry matter basis)?

Answer by ChewyJan 05, 2026
Per the manufacturer: "Our green-lipped mussels in the GLM powder are raw and freeze dried. On the phosphorus question, because this product is a supplement (not a complete food or treat), we do not provide a guaranteed analysis or nutrient breakdown like phosphorus on an as-fed or dry matter basis. Supplement labeling guidelines are pretty strict here, and we have to be careful about presenting these products in a way that aligns more with foods (beyond the ingredient list). What I can share is general context: we use natural green-lipped mussels, and in their raw form they typically contain less than half the phosphorus compared to beef, and about three times less than salmon (values can vary by source and testing method). If a pet is on a medically restricted phosphorus diet, we always recommend the pet parent confirm specifics with their vet."

How many 1/2 teaspoons servings are in each bag?

Answer by ChewyJan 13, 2025
Each scoop is approximately 1/2 a teaspoon and each bag contains roughly 60 scoops.

My dog is obsessed!

My 130lb Saint Bernard loves this! Wanted to supplement her joint support with something tasty. Just wish the bag was bigger, 2.32 oz lasted a few weeks at most

Dogs love it

My dogs are approaching age 9, and they are both large breeds, and I have noticed a bit of a slowdown as far as running around and balls and each other since starting

No product knowledge

The company has great CS, unfortunately they don't know anything about their products. I contacted them to get some nutritional information due to our pets restrictions

The company has great CS, unfortunately they don't know anything about their products. I contacted them to get some nutritional information due to our pets restrictions but they don't know or won't provide it. It's not regulated for supplements to know contents are in their supplements but every company I've ever contacted has it. It's very fishy smelling and 2 of our 3 cats hate it. But if your pets have no restrictions and like it, I'm sure it's great!
