Too hard to chew and swallow

    By on

This is the first treat that my cats won't eat. I pick it because it said real shrimp. One of my cats will come to smell it and ignore it. The other cat tried to chew it and break it into small pieces. But she will throw it up after chewing the smaller pieces few times.

    Apparently an acquired taste

    By on Top 1000 Contributor

Normally my 2 cats love just about any kind of treat (unless it's hiding something "good for them," like medicine), but oddly enough, this shrimp flavor was hit or miss. I had been noticing that when I left treats out in their feeder toy, they selectively left some pieces behind, but I'd mixed the flavors, so I couldn't be sure which one it was. So I did a little experiment this morning. I put some tuna flavor in a bowl on one side of the feeder toy, and some shrimp flavor on the other side. My little lady turned her nose up at the shrimp, but then jumped on the tuna when I pointed her to is. So then I offered the shrimp to my big boy without showing him the tuna bowl. He ate 3 of the 4 pieces Normally my 2 cats love just about any kind of treat (unless it's hiding something "good for them," like medicine), but oddly enough, this shrimp flavor was hit or miss. He ate 3 of the 4 pieces and then walked away. So then I showed him the bowl with the tuna flavor, and he gobbled them right up. So one didn't like the shrimp at all (my "chow hound," oddly enough, who never turns up her nose at any kibble, unless it's a weight-loss formula!), and the other would eat some, but clearly preferred the tuna flavor. … more

    They love them

Scarfing it down the minute I give it to them. I don't typically give them treats, I need to be a nicer momma. And now I am because of Chewy.
