I had to make changes unfortunately due to the onset of CKD. I was formally feeding my kitty the very best wet organic food--so I can't figure out this devastating misfortune. After some initial suspect sniffing to this new food, she's all into it OK. I'm happy with this food & will not search for another brand of wet kidney diet food. It is very fresh & smells great after being in the fridge for 24 hours--it passed my 24 hour test. That is the true test of freshness! I don't care for the gums, but choices are few. This food is truly a winner I will stick with.
My cat loves it! I add a little water and mix it up. It’s low in protein for extra kidney care and balanced in calcium and phosphorus. I love blue buffalo and their quality ingredients. The joint supplements are a bonus too. Just perfect!
I have tried to get my guy to eat this food so many times, but he just won’t touch it. I did the transition recommendations, but he still ignores it. So sad because he is in stage 4 renal failure and there are no other grain free kidney diets available.
I've tried several types of food for my cat who has kidney problems, and could not find a canned food she likes... until now. She loves this Blue Buffalo food, which is so important as she needs lots of water in her diet. I highly recommend you give it a try!
My cat has eaten Blue Buffalo for most of her life and has seemingly liked it. I was hesitant about putting her on a prescription diet, but it is what she needs. I felt good about this diet because it is the same brand, and I thought that the taste must be close. It must have been! My Tika took right to it! She also had no ill effects from the change. In fact, we made the change in record time.
I really was excited to try this one, but she so t gave it. It’s so hard to keep her weight up, and is limited with having ckd
My nearly 16 old boy who is likely part Maine Coon, has borderline kidney disease that he is compensating for so far, thankfully. But he needed to move from "early consult / early stage" foods to full on kidney care food. I have tried the vet suggested brands, RC and Purina specifically. And I'd spend 4-5 hours coaxing him to eat 1/2 can of those foods, mixed with lots of water for hydration. This morning I tried this food and he ate nearly a whole can in 20 minutes. He seems instantly happier with a full tummy of better quality food. A WINNER!
There appears to be 4 wet food options for kitties with kidney issues. Due to human health restrictions, I can't have gluten-containing products in the house... and 2 wet food options list gluten as a top ingredient. We tried the third brand, but it is less popular with my feline friend and gives her tummy troubles. Luckily, Blue saved the day with a pate she likes and digests better. Plus, it's higher quality, so overall better anyway.
Not sure why this has so many good reviews, I knew as soon as I opened a can that my CKD cat would not eat it and she is not even picky. Looks like rubber. Reminds me of hydrolyzed food I had to get for another cat. I added a few drops of warm water and some fish oil to try to make it more palatable and she still wouldn't eat it.
Tried this after cat refused similar products from 3 other mfg. Tried mixing with food she liked & would only nibble a bit. 5oz container difficult to use as must be refrigerated between meals.
