What are the portion sizes? It is unclear if I need to give my cat 1 portion or 2. I am trying to set 3 meals of dry kibble per day and pair it with wet food.

For my cat's kibble, eight "servings" (what the instructions says is 10g) is 1/2 cup of food, which is the amount of food my cat needs. This machine lets you go up to nine servings per feeding, with up to four feedings per day. The amount of food that gets dispensed will likely vary based on your kibble, so it's a good idea to measure what comes out and adjust accordingly.

Can a 13 pound cat knock it over? I'm returning a different brand (to Amazon) because my cat can knock it over and open the lid.

No. My cat is 14lbs and although he has tried multiple times to knock over the feeder, he has only been successful once, and the lid did not open. The lid screws in and therefore should prevent most cats from getting in even if it is knocked over.

It’s just alright because when the food comes out it doesn’t come out with enough velocity to completely leave the chute and end up in the bowl. Maybe it’s the food I’m using (they’re pretty small little pellets) or the amount per serving but they get backed up in the chute. But stuck/jammed but it doesn’t all end up in the bowl. Also I like when you don’t have to read instructions and setup is intuitive but programming the times and portions wasn’t really intuitive. I tried decreasing the portion size during each food drop and couldn’t get it (again to be completely fair I didn’t thoroughly read the directions so maybe I’m just dumb but it didn’t have the desired effect on portion size). Overall it’s alright. You can’t connect it to WiFi/phone to control it and it does the job, just not phenomenally.

Dispenses at completely random intervals

I really wanted to give this feeder a try to make our schedule easier and give our cat more feeding times during the day but it is impossible. The food never dispensed

I really wanted to give this feeder a try to make our schedule easier and give our cat more feeding times during the day but it is impossible. The food never dispensed at the correct time a single time. I knew it was dispensing because the overall amount of food in the canister was decreasing but it never dispensed at the set times. I watched it while I was cleaning the room it’s in and for 2 hours after the set feed time it still never dispensed. As others mentioned the clock gets completely wonky too, and it is not backlit at all so it is nearly impossible to read unless you are face to face with it close up, super impractical when it lives on the ground.

I was absolutely delighted with this automatic feeder for my dog. It was very easy to set up and started working immediately. I loved being able to program the exact meal times and portion sizes, so there's no food waste, and it has helped reduce my stress and worry about feeding my pet when I'm busy or away from home. Best of all, it has a backup battery, which is incredibly useful. If the power goes out or the Wi-Fi fails, the feeder continues to dispense food as programmed, so my pet never goes hungry. I also liked that it's very easy to clean. I love it!

Simple and Straightforward Feeder

I ordered two of these for my 2 cats. The initial set-up is a bit confusing to understand in order to set the feedings. This feeder doesn't set feedings per ounce

I ordered two of these for my 2 cats. The initial set-up is a bit confusing to understand in order to set the feedings. This feeder doesn't set feedings per ounce or cup, it sets it per "portion". So you essentially have to end up weighing however much 1 "portion" is that it dispenses of your cat's dry food. You then have to measure the weight of what your cat should be fed in total for the day to equate to the number of "portions" needing to be dispensed. However, after you do this quick math I was easily able to set-up their dispensations for morning, afternoon, and evening. I do separate feedings as one of my cats is on a weight loss diet while the other is not, so doing 3 feedings helps to ensure the cats are eating their food without grazing all day and leaving food in the bowl. I love that it has the back-up batteries because I do live in an area where we get power outages if it storms and this keeps the timer going. I did have to reset the clock on one of them because it seemed to be slower than what I had originally set it at. Overall I would recommend these feeders if you want a straightforward feeder without a lot of hassle. Again, the initial set-up might take some time but the investment is worth it!
