The Bonito flakes will last as long as possible as long as they do not become moist. It is recommended to open the pouch and retrieve the amount of Bonito flakes that you'd like to give to your pet and then immediately seal up the pouch again. As long as the pouch stays sealed the flakes will remain fresh for many weeks. If the bag is not sealed and the Bonito flakes will quickly dry out and become brittle and subsequently turned to powder.

My old lady cat was obsessed with these. She got them as a food topper when she was less hungry, and had a little box tray in the kitchen where she'd get them as occasional treats. She would regularly wait patiently next to the box in the kitchen, demanding fishie flakes from the universe at large. It was shockingly polite for a cat who normally yelled about everything. My new kittens have only had these once so far, so I can't comment on how they like them. But the picky one nibbled a few so that's a huge win!

The only thing that would make them better would be to add some air to the package or maybe nitrogen (to avoid oxidizing the flakes) - to keep the flakes from being crushed in shipping. There's a lot of "tuna dust" in the bottom of the bag that my cats aren't crazy about.

The moment my little girl cat Della tasted the full ribbon-like strips of dried salmon flakes, she fell in love. As a pet parent they are the most frequently purchased item on our chewy list. Della is a picky eater, but Bonito flakes are always a well appreciated snack. Della loves her Cat-man-doo Bonito flakes. I have to make sure we always have back up so the autoship option helps, plus I appreciate the discount autoship gives us. Bonito flakes are truly Della's fave food. Her cousin Asabelle the cat is a huge fan as well. As a pet parent I highly recommend the tender strips of dried Bonito flakes as a healthy snack for my little girl. P.S., her Nana approves them too!
