We are keeping this toy, because it does "work" but not really as much as we thought it would. It needs to be hit or poked harder than kittens (or even older cats) are likely to do. We put one of these two illuminated balls in the Catit system, along with the not-illuminated ball that comes with one of the track models, and the heavier not-illuminated ball, when poked, seems to jolt the other ball into its "illumination" cycle. So, we have those two balls in that track. BUT, the illumination does not last long (with one kick, that is), and that seems to frustrate the cats. They love the Catit track, but we really would like to see an illuminated ball that actually stays lit for a longer We are keeping this toy, because it does "work" but not really as much as we thought it would. They love the Catit track, but we really would like to see an illuminated ball that actually stays lit for a longer period of time, and also does not require such a jolt. For instance, sometimes I intervene just to jolt the ball to illuminate. As for the second ball that comes in this set, it seems to work well on the floor by itself (not in the track), being hit around by the kittens, since it is likely to be hit against a piece of furniture or a wall, and that jolts it into the illumination cycle.… more
Helps with the toy!

The cat liked catit track and would play once in a while. I would need to hide the track a little while then bring it out to keep her interested., I thought I would try something new with the light up ball. Oh boy did she love it more! I keep it out and can hear her playing with it at night. Will totally buy again.
Little Demon loved it.

I had a pack of these I had not opened yet. Little demon loves her Tower of Tracks but she has a habit of getting the lowest ball out and losing it under furniture. I popped in one of these and it fit perfectly. She is now an extremely happy cat playing with her two favorite toys.
1 wouldn't turn off

The second I pulled the little plastic stopper out of both I thought they were just blinking because of the motion I caused. After I dropped them on the ground 1 of them actually stopped blinking but the other kept going til it died. My 8 month old cat had no interest in these blinking balls at all. I don't know maybe just his age or something but seemed more like the blinking light wasn't appealing to him.
easy to find under furniture

My cats all LOVE this toy. So much so that my Siamese (evil genius that she is) has figured out how to remove the covers off the track and scoop the balls out.
Fortunately, the blinking light makes it super easy to find it once the cats have moved on to more 'self directed' play. ;-)
Overall, these balls are the only rolly ball toys I will get for my cats now.
Wonderful, stimulating toy!!

I have a rescued cat who is mostly blind, due to a kitten-hood head injury, so It has always been difficult stimulating her to play.
These balls are so bright, though, that she can follow them, and she absolutely adores them! They light up at the smallest touch or vibration--even just when she walks by them! She goes bananas batting them around!
My only complaint with these is that the battery is not replaceable. However, are cheap enough to buy several.
These are definitely a thumbs up!
Great attention getter, especially with the ball track!

A couple of my cats LOVE swatting at these balls. They flash red llght when they are rolled, or when something moves near them! These aren't their #1 favorite toy, but these are one they go to, and will play with for a while over most other balls! Kids (human) like them a lot too, which is a plus!
They do light up often when no one is playing, and one seems to light up far easier than the other, so perhaps a QC issue?
A toy worth getting for the track system Catit makes. Generally a good toy, and having balls that light up just adds to the fun! Nice that they light up too so they don't get stepped on too!
Red strobe is bit much
on Sep 8, 2017
The ball lights up bright red (I thought it would be green, like the ball) and flashes in a quick strobe - my car was terrified of it initially. Once the battery runs down a bit, the strobe effect lessens but it also loses sensitivity as far as touch activation.
cat doesn't play with

Best $6 I've ever spent

I bought these in case I needed replacements for the Bergan Star Chaser toy. Turns out they are smaller (2 in. dia) so they will fly out of the track if hit too hard. But, they are smoother and much brighter than the Bergan balls. I put them in a clean plastic tub and my cats enjoyed batting them around in it. Happy cats
