You can simply hold the test strip to your pet's urine stream or use a pet urine collector to first collect the urine and then immerse the strip into the sample. Please make sure that the test strip does not contact urine for more than 2 seconds. Hold Horizontal for 30 Seconds. Once the test strip has contacted urine you must hold it horizontal so that the color pads do not bleed on to each other and skew results. Wait for 30 seconds for the reactions on the color pads to take place. Hold the urine test strip against the color chart on the product bottle to read the results. Make sure to read the correct parameter after the specified time. Record your results and speak to a veterinarian if necessary.
I do hope these work -- having this product available, with 7 cats, several senior, certainly reduces my anxiety about their health. And being able to bring data to the vet is reassuring. Hope these are not needed, but very important to have in the pet medicine cabinet.
This was the second time purchasing this product. The first time I had no problems. The second time the stick did not line up with the scale on the outside of the container. I was not able to get what could be considered an accurate reading for the test results. I would not buy this product again because of this issue.
These urine test strips didnt work and my vet doesnt recommend buying them It is a waste of money. They went in the trash can Test strips do not work no matter if they are for pets or people.
Have not used them yet but am concerned they do not have an expiration date on the bottle. At least I could not find one. I have used human grade test strips and they always have expiration dates. Using expired strips will affect the results. So would not purchase these again.
these strips are so helpful for catching problems indicated in a dog's urine. More information than I expected to alert me to a health problem.
I have used these before and they were at least useful. This time there is no expiration date and regardless of the color or density of the urine, the only pad that changes color is protein on the whole strip. Not helpful at all.
This is our 2nd bottle. The first one (bought a few months ago) showed high leukocytes.. I was concerned that something bad was going on so I told the vet about my findings and he ran a test and he found the luekocytes were normal. Then I saw the reviews on here of others that had reported the same thing about the strip saying leukocytes were high and they too double checked with their vet and found that the strip was reporting false information. I did just purchase a 2nd bottle and again the strips are reporting high leukocyte levels. So if you have high levels on your strips it is still a good thing to check with your vet to make sure nothing serious is going on.
Originally I purchased these strips to verify that a veterinarian diagnosed UTI had cleared up after the prescribed course of antibiotics were completed. Upon first opening, it worked great for that purpose. All was negative. Fast forward 9 months, I wanted to test my dog's urine again, and unfortunately, the strips had since deteriorated. At first I thought the strip was showing positive leukocytes, so I thought I'd use another strip (since there's so many in the bottle) to watch the color turn in real-time. That's when I pulled a strip from the bottle and noticed that the dry leukocytes test pad was already darkened to a pink/purple color before dipping it in the urine. Also the ketones test pad was noticeably darkened. If you didn't know the strips had deteriorated, you'd be inclined to think your pet had a UTI or other various problems. Since we were already scheduled for the vet, I had his urine tested professionally. All negative. So the plus is that these strips are cheaper than a test at the vet, but the savings disappear if the strips lead you to believe you need to go to the vet. Unfortunately, and the bottle states, the "strips are [only] stable for 3 months after first opening." If you're not paying attention to that, you're going to get false positives and possibly go through a lot of money and worry for nothing. And really, who has need of 50 urinalysis strips that last only 90 days at best?
So glad I purchased this! My cat has been battling a UTI for months, this helped me convince the vets to continue the antibiotic instead of stopping to retest, and she is slowly getting better. Lots of wasted money and pain could have been avoided if I had thought of buying this at the beginning! I think the vets should have suggested it!
Thanks to this product I was able to pinpoint my pets problem.
