I wanted to try a senior dog food for my aging pup. I introduced her slowly to the food and she got quite sick within days. Vomiting and diarrhea. It was unusual, because she has never reacted this way before when I switched her food and she does not have a sensitive stomach. I have thought about getting the food tested and would not even feel comfortable donating the near 40lb bag. The bag was also open (in the box) upon arrival. I switched her back to her old food after a few days of rice and chicken and she is back to her old self.
This food came highly recommended and we liked the ingredients. However, our super sensitive senior GSD can't tolerate even the smallest transition without horrific gas, constant panting, and diarrhea. We've had this experience with many high end kibbles so we're sure its not the food. In any case, our dog can't eat it.
As this was the only food I had, all my dogs, hounds and Doberman, were on it. Too soft stools which haven’t improved. Rereading the ingredients was disappointing, and I’m sorry I didn’t pay better attention initially. Had used Dr Tim’s before, not the Senior, with good results. Won’t buy this again.
My dogs have switched to this one from Dr. Tim's weight management, and they love this one as much as WM food. I wish the company offers 24lbs size bag.
I tried this food from a friend who gave me a bag. My dog loved it at her house and ate some at home. After 4 days of giving her a mixture of old food to new food, she was having very loose stools. Waited and tried again in a couple of days, can’t give it to her. I now have an almost full 5 lb bag, I can’t use. My friend does not live close by. My dog is a 14 year old Wheaten Terrier.
My dogs were getting up there in years and I switched to this food and they just love it ! They seem to have more energy and are doing really great on this food. I waited awhile to write the review to see how they faired on the food and it's a very pleasant surprise. Stools are firm. Coat is shiny. IMHO if you have an older dog this food is a must !
I got this for my 10 year old Newfoundland, and she just loves it. She will eat it plain, no toppings, and cleans her bowl every time.
After two months on this food my dogs coats are super soft and shiny. My lab mix used to shed constantly but now she barely sheds. Great food!
Love the quality ingredients and the fact that it's made by a vet... my dogs love the taste.
My extremely picky and super sensitive (tummy) cocker spaniel loves this food. He is 13 years old and his digestive system gets out of balance easily — not pleasant — so I am thrilled that he likes this and can eat it without awful side effects. I’ll order more soon!
