So, even with finding litter box of 13" height, I have ONE cat that defies the design. These mats are machine washable and sit UNDER the boxes very well. They do not wash well in our machine tub & loses shape. I keep the 5 star rating regardless because of durability and protection. If I can't use an industrial machine, I wash outside or in bathroom, scrub gently with bristled brush or push broom. I rinse with hose/shower head, drip & air dry with sun or space heater. I prefer the grated mats for litter control, though cleaning those are far more hassle, especially when a cat sprays over the top!

However, unlike the natural woven mats I have, which I can sweep with a broom to maintain cleaning, this needs more of a vacuum job, and at some point a wash.
