So pine is supposed to be toxic for rabbits but you all have listed that it's safe for them; what makes the pine shavings in this non-toxic? I'm asking because my rabbits used to love this but then I took a closer look at the ingredients and became concerned for their health.
Answer by ChewyOct 05, 2018
Snak Shak products are made from both pine and aspen shavings. The reason that pine and cedar shavings are thought to be problematic when used as bedding, is due to the release of aromatic hydrocarbons (phenols) that some believe pose a risk to the respiratory system of small animals. But subjecting hardwood products to heat treatment dramatically reduces the concentration of aromatic hydrocarbons, and Snak Shak products undergo heat treatment.

What are the ingredients in this.
Answer by ChewyNov 24, 2017
This Snak Shak is made of: pine wood shavings, cassava starch, alfalfa, sodium alginate, potassium sorbate, propionic acid, honey, glycerin and propylene glycol.

What are the height and length of this log?
Answer by ChewyAug 18, 2017
This log is 9.5 inches long and 6.5 inches in height.

Is this safe to give to adult rabbits? This has alfalfa in it and I thought that that isn’t good for adult rabbits.
Answer by ChewyAug 31, 2018
Alfalfa, when used as an ingredient in a balanced diet, provides lots of valuable nutrients.

great concept- poor execution

This is a great idea! However the ingredients are low quality and harmful for small pets. The top ingredients are sawdust (aka wood shavings) honey, alfalfa, starch! All of these ingredients are high to digest, high in calcium, high in sugar and overall aren’t safe. Please read ingredients before you buy!!!

great product!

Pigs love when I stick hay in the top for them! They haven’t really chewed on it much but when they go to the bathroom in it you will have to replace soon or it will stink. I recommend taking out after they eat all the hay or refilling it soon after!

color and smell

On the bottom had a green color to it and did not smell nice. Quality has gone down hill since the last time i bought it.

GP Shak is wonderful

My Guinea Pigs love their shaks. They hide in them, have fun running thru them, hiding in them, and it makes it easy for us to catch them in. We can then carry them inside the log to another location. This makes cleaning their cages a breeze!

Guinea Piggies

My guinea pig boys didn’t really care about this item, but it is decorative for their habitat. I put hay in it and they still ignored it, and they rarely chew on the log. However, I think it’s cute, so it is mostly for decoration.

Our bunny seems to enjoy the snac shack in her cage....she moves it around where she wants it...and uses it to file very well for her

Fun for them

So before they would ukd lay in it and sometimes knaw it. Well they were always running out of hay in their feeder so we started stuffing it with the hay. They now dont waste as much and they love chewing on them. We are now on number 5 or 6. It keeps their teeth filed down to. So win win

Way too small for bunny

Not big enough for bunny to go inside however, my bun loves to chew on it so I’m very happy.
