How much food do I put down each day for two adult Guinea Pigs? Mine have been getting too fat and I don't know the correct amount to feed them.
Answer by ChewyApr 14, 2021
Guinea Pigs should always have hay available in a hopper, bin, or on the bottom of their cage and will graze on it as they need; keep a half cup of hay always available, and replace it daily to keep it fresh. If your guinea pig is gaining weight, make sure that you’re feeding the correct amount of pelleted food (1/8th cup once daily, per guinea pig) and only providing a treat once daily.

Is this food good for baby rabbits?
Answer by ChewyNov 26, 2018
Like adults, hay should play an important role in young rabbit's diet. Grass hay (e.g. meadow or timothy) is the one food you should introduce from the start, even if your rabbit isn't already eating it. This is the gentlest food on the gut and will provide the fibre needed for the digestive process to function.

Is this brand safe for my Guinea Pig ? I am giving it oxbow Timothy hay I am trying to save a little money since Oxbow is little bit more expensive
Answer by ChewyNov 21, 2017
This product is safe for Rabbit, Guinea Pig, Chinchilla and Degu.

About how long does the larger bag last for one guinea pig?
Answer by ChewyAug 23, 2018
There's no exact feeding amount of hay your small animal needs, the length of time it'll last will vary. You can provide hay at all times.

Severe decrease in hay quality

I don’t know what’s going on, but since September, the last 3 bags of hay have been absolutely horrible! The 1st one was all brown, the 2nd one was mainly powder (I literally had to put the hay through a colander to get as many pieces as I could. Only about a 16th of the bag was salvageable, and even those were under 2-3 inches long.) The 3rd bag was half powder. What is happening to your hay, Kaytee?? My bun can’t live on powdered hay. You are losing customers. Please fix this!

Doesnt last as long haha

I normally buy Oxbow blends and its, 90-oz...every 3 weeks or so. Sometimes I'll buy this one...just to compare and it seems Kaytee really goes fast. Points for it not being a struggle to get out the bag and its not like im "over feeding" my rabbits. idk. its weird to me. Last about 2 weeks. Anyway its a good product. like i said no struggle to get it out the bag, and my rabbits will eat it...when theyre not chewing up the walls lol. lol. I'll probably buy more in the future.

Kaytee vs Oxbow..buns decide

Well, the votes are in! Blossom and Oreo pick Oxbow. Mom likes Kaytee price a little more but Oxbox is superb for lack of dust, thus more product remains for voracious bun appetites! In a pinch, yes, buns say get Kaytee if our favorite is out of stock.

I have bought Kaytee timothy hay for my chinchillas for a couple of years and have been satisfied with it. This last bag is a big disappointment. Usually there's a little powder at the bottom of the bag which is acceptable. This bag however, has powdered hay throughout, top to bottom. I don't think I would be exagerating to say that half of the bag is powdered hay. I hope this is an anomaly. For now, I'm very disappointed and I could not recommend this product.

Not my favorite

This particular brand is very hard to get handfuls out of the bag. The hay is so compact/hard, it hurts when you try to dig in to get any of it loose.

Better deals

Been getting hay and food from Timothy's for a couples years now had a friend tell me they go to tractor supply for food and litter as there way cheaper and i can get 9 times as much if i go to tractor supply. If you have a tractor supply near you would recommend getting stuff there just wanting to help

Not the quality it use to be

It use to be that Kay-tee had quality Timothy hay. This last bag that I received is easily 75% brown. And what little green hay there is are broken off shavings. I'm guessing they had a bad crop this year. Safe to say I'll be staying away from their hay for at least a year

Better than other brands

I prefer this over the oxbow brand. Less expensive and my piggy eats more of this hay. Sometimes I get a bag that has more dust, sometimes a good batch.
