Can cats actually scratch the post that is the neck part of the giraffe (above the bed)? I'm looking for a post that's tall enough and this looks cute but I'm wondering if the bed is in the way or the cat will still be able to reach and scratch the tall part above the bed.

The wicker is made of PE rattan ( Polyethylene resin rattan).

Is the head/neck of the giraffe for looks or is it structural? Could the cat condo be assembled without it?

Parts should not be removed or replaced. It is recommended to follow the assembly instructions and not omit any parts. The cat tree has been tested to ensure stability during use.

Picked this up on a holiday sale and I'm so happy with it! It's very cute and much more sturdy than I was expecting. The wicker-looking basket is actually woven plastic. In person it has such a nice aesthetic. One of my cats adopted it very quickly, the other not so much. It is such a nice addition to the house though, that I would have no problem waiting for a cat to get used to it/start using it.

I absolutely love giraffes and have been eyeing this product for quite some time. I finally splurged for the holiday, and its SO cute! A bit over 4 feet tall, it’s a decent size and sturdy for the price. Unfortunately, my girls could care less about it, even with catnip! They were more interested in the box, lol. Regardless, super cute addition to our home & i hope our girls warm up to it soon. Easy to assemble as well!

This is a very popular item in our multiple cat household. There is sisal galore on the legs which my cat's adore. The plastic wicker will be easy to keep clean

This is a very popular item in our multiple cat household. There is sisal galore on the legs which my cat's adore. The plastic wicker will be easy to keep clean. It was very easy assembly which took me less than 20 minutes to complete. The kitties also seem to like the peekaboo holes in the wicker from which they can see every direction from the little cubby. It's also cute enough for my foyer.

This scratching post/basket bed is attractive and of good quality. My baby got this as a Christmas gift and spends a lot of time playing with the dangling tail and scratching on the legs. It’s sturdy and will not tip over even with an energetic kitty. It fits in nicely with my modern decor and I have gotten a few compliments from visitors. I highly recommend this item. It’s affordable and durable.
