Could this be used outside under an awning or would water still get in? (Are there holes in the top?)

The Frisco Hooded Cat Litter Box is designed as an indoor covered litter box with a solid plastic hood and a front entrance. It does not have intentional holes in the top. Rain or wind-driven moisture could still get in through the front opening or around the edges of the hood if exposed to weather, even under an awning.

Does this litter box have enough room for a 20 lb. cat to turn around in?

In general, it is recommended that your cat's litter box should be one-and-a-half times the length of your cat from tip of the nose to base of the tail. The dimensions of this litter box are (26 x 18.1 x 19.3 inches).

Is the door detachable? My cat likes the hooded box but not the swinging doors.

How high is the tray without the lid, from bottom to top of tray?

Without the hood, the height to the entrance of the tray is approximately 5 ½ inches. The height to the back of the tray is approximately 13 ¾ inches.

Great for high pee-ers

One of my cats likes to pee as high as he can in the back corner of the litter box. Cleaning in between the lid and the tray became a pain in the bum. This box eliminates that, since the back is 13” high. A simple (disinfecting) wipe between full clean-outs does the trick. Highly recommend!

Nice size box with lid

I like this box, gives plenty of room for our large senior cat to get around inside. Deep enough but not too deep for her to get in and out of comfortably. Did not

I like this box, gives plenty of room for our large senior cat to get around inside. Deep enough but not too deep for her to get in and out of comfortably. Did not like that two of the side clips which hold the top on broke after having it for several months. It makes it frustrating for our cat, because now when she scratches on the inside of the walls while in the box, the top moves because the clips broke! Disappointing. Otherwise a good choice.

Lasted 4 years

I bought this when we rescued our sweet Gimli. I'm unsure how long they should last. I am thinking I don't want to purchase another litter box that will end up

I bought this when we rescued our sweet Gimli. I'm unsure how long they should last. I am thinking I don't want to purchase another litter box that will end up in the local dump...never decomposing. I hope I can just buy a new lid. The flaps that keep the lid on this litter box have now completely broken off. I could have been more gentle and maybe it would have lasted longer. The plastic flap that my cat walks through to get to the litter was the first thing to stop working...but that was 3 years later. Our Gimli is a aggressive cat litter cover upper...lol! I absolutely need a litter box that keeps as much litter off the floor and scattered throughout my house as possible.

Smooth switch

I wasn't sure what the boys would do with new, bigger litter boxes, but I didn't have to worry. They both are enjoying the larger "facilities ".

Not very well made.

The box is nice but didn’t last long as the door flap fell off a few months after purchase. I feel like it’s cheaply made.

We buy jumbo litter pans for many reasons. They give our furbabies room to move, thy offer much less waste as they keep the litter in the box where it belongs & they have more room to choose their spot. Of course the lid assists with these plus factors too. We highly recommend.

Could/should be much better

I have two large boys, so need a long and tall box. I also have one little girl, and need a box w/a low enough entrance so she doesn't have to always jump into it

I have two large boys, so need a long and tall box. I also have one little girl, and need a box w/a low enough entrance so she doesn't have to always jump into it. Unfortunately, the dimensions listed in the description aren't quite accurate - the box tapers so much at the bottom that you lose several inches just for the design & the entrance is higher than described. I like that it's so big, and I like that it's nice and tall, but it's very flimsy and I'm worried about it breaking almost immediately. There's also no handle on the lid, so lifting the lid off to scoop is a little bit awkward. Finally, the filter is attached in such a weird way that it doesn't stay on securely. So, I like the size overall, but the construction and description needs a lot of work

Tabs Broke Right Away. Terrible Litter Box...AMAZING Customer Service

BAD: The tabs that secure the top to the bottom broke off almost immediately from one of the holds. The box is large so can hold a lot of litter. The flimsy snaps

BAD: The tabs that secure the top to the bottom broke off almost immediately from one of the holds. The box is large so can hold a lot of litter. The flimsy snaps just can't hold the weight. Our box is under a table so we need to be able to lift it out from under it each time we scoop. After only 2 months all the latches are broken so we can no longer use it. Also, the filter doesn't have any way of securing in place so I just tossed it. GOOD: Nice large size for our bigger cat. The hood and door mean that litter stays in when our cat digs. VERY GOOD: I used the chat feature to request a refund. In moments they had refunded me for the defective litter box with no hassle. As a result of the customer service I will continue to be a Chewy customer. :o)
