nice new bed
The new dog bed arrived today and seems to be very well made. It arrived in a vacuum-sealed plastic bag. I detected no odor (nothing resembling odors other reviewers reported). The bed's cover is a thick nylon fabric and looks like it should be durable and repel water. The zipper looks sturdy. This bed (size L) is for an outdoor doghouse. Its width fits the doghouse floor perfectly. However, the length is 4 inches short. The next size up (XL) would have been the right length but way too wide... So I compromised by purchasing the L. This bed is sufficiently large for my dog to relax on comfortably. He took to it immediately and has been napping in the doghouse all afternoon! It came with a 60-day warranty that, once registered, seems to include replacement coverage for dog-induced damage! Yay!!
Cover destroyed
Purchased this dog bed through Chewy and received it 2/6/22. We purchased the bed since it was an orthopedic bed for night time sleeping only for our older dog and she loved it and so did we. I washed it 3 times following the washing & drying instructions correctly and the inside of the cover is totally destroyed basically dry rotted and getting worse and worse each washing. The inside protective lining, so said waterproof lining, is disintegrating leaving my wash machine full of the pieces of the material making a total mess to clean up. When removing the cover from the foam there is a total mess on the foam which needs to be cleaned. The cover must be totally unzipped and shaken out to remove the loose pieces. The cover is supposed to protect the foam but since there is no lining the foam is now getting a horrible smell and must be scrubbed down. What good is a dog bed when it can't be washed and doesn't even last a year. I would appreciate some feedback on this issue from the manufacturing company FurHaven.
Not FurHaven
I was very disappointed when the bed arrived that it was not fabric covered. After one night sleeping on it my dog refused to sleep on it again. The cover is all denier covered. It is NOT soft. This could be a decent outside lounging bed, but it's not good for a creat bed.
Not for us
I thought this bed looked almost exactly like the one I wanted to replace. The size and inner foam material are the same, but the cover is not the same soft material. Instead, it is so firm it actually made a little noise when the dog got onto it. He refuses to use it. I plan to replace the inner foam material in the old bed, so it was not a total mistake.
Awesome so far!
The bed is rugged, my "dog bed chewing chewing" dog has NOT even tried to chew it up! I didn't think that she was going to like the canvas fabric to sleep on, but, remarkably, she loves her new bed! :) :) She's a 9 year old Rottweiler, and she loves sleeping in her crate. Everything I've tried these past 9 years has been instantaneously destuffed, chewed up, etc. So glad I found her this bed. And, at a great price too!
Excellent Service
We had questions regarding chemo pills for our beautiful boy. We needed them ASAP and were very helpful with the ordering and we received them in 2 days and not 10 or more.
Bed smells terrible
The jumbo was one inch shorter, 1/2 inch less wide and 1/2 inch less thick than advertised. But worst of all the cover smells terrible. Upon opening the bag and smelling the bed, I've set it outside and hope the smell wears off.
Disappointing! Thin foam & “wipe clean” only
Very thin padding, strong plastic odor even after leaving outside in covered area, on top of outdoor furniture, in hopes that odor would dissipate and maybe foam would absorb air & decompress. To be useable I’ll have to go to local upholstery shop & have a foam pad cut to size to add under the egg crate it comes with. Horrible bed. Foam doesn’t even take up 2/3 the depth of the cover & instructions say cover can be spot-cleaned with mild soap, blotted dry then air dried. For an outdoor bed? That doesn’t meet my definition of washable! All my other beds, washable means the cover zips off & goes in the washing machine & dryer. A very sorry purchase!
Thumbs down in less than 2 weeks
This bed is only occasionally used for short time periods. The seam started coming apart within a few days. Within a week the zipper has now broken. Total time used is approximately 12 hours. So disappointed as we have 2 other furhaven beds (different styles) that are used all the time for several months with no issues.
He's a good man
My dog likes the bed. I know this because she hasn't destroyed it like she does everything else. This is pretty much exactly what I was looking for in a bed that would be on my back porch.
