The amount of food your cat needs will vary depending on breed, activity level, age and climate. Use our feeding chart as a guide, adjusting the quantity fed to achieve your cat’s ideal weight. We suggest feeding twice a day. Provide fresh, clean water at all times. Love, attention, playtime and chin scratches should be given freely, as often as possible.
The transition period should be at minimum, ten days and could take upwards of two weeks, depending on your pet’s sensitivity to change. On day one, introduce 10% new food and 90% old food. Keep the food at this ratio for two or more days. Next, increase the ratio to 20% new food and 80% old food for two or more days. Repeat increasing in increments of 10% until you’re feeding 100% of the new food. If your pet experiences any kind of digestive upset during this time, try slowing down the process to let his or her digestive tract adjust to the new food. Some vomiting and/or diarrhea can be normal when introducing new foods as the digestive process and the naturally occurring bacteria your pet’s body requires is a complex and delicate system. If you experience any vomiting and/or diarrhea, be sure to reduce the amount of new food the next time you feed and overall, slow the whole transition period down even more.

A crunchy treat for Rex
By Beverly on Dec 5, 2020
Rex was missing his crunchy dry food, so I searched for a grain-free product to supplement his daily pate’. We’re counting calories so I calculated that 1 TBS mid-day and at bedtime would add just enough to his daily allowance. He loves them, and they are so tiny that 1 TBS looks like a lot!

Definitely Buy This!
By Alex on Sep 11, 2020
I was looking for a food (Vs just treats and supplements) that would support my cats’ urinary tract health. I also will not feed my animals anything with by-products or meals. This is it! My cats took to it immediately, even though they’ve been eating nothing but Halo (and some daily sauces or soups separately for added liquids). They Absolutely Love It!

My cats love this food!
By Erica on Mar 29, 2020
My cats are extremely picky and I've been looking for a healthy organic option for them (I've tried them all). This is definitely their favorite and I love the brand's mission and their quality ingredients. We will continue to purchase this!

Tiny Bites
By Kalaryn on Sep 30, 2019
My cats are eating it, so that's a plus. The pellets are super tiny though so I'm not sure if I'll continue to buy it since larger pellets work more plague off.

Seemed to be good ingredients.
By Naomi on Jul 30, 2019
My kitty gobbled it down & then brought it back up. She will not eat it now. Maybe the pieces were too small & she didn't chew them enough.

Good with reservations
By Dljc on Jan 23, 2019
Good ingredients but two problems with the food. First, the protein content is TOO low. I was feeding farmina with much higher protein which is necessary for cats. I stopped because the last 3 bags were greasy which brings me to my second observation which is the kibble is too small. I use kibble dispensers/treat balls as my cat will eat too much at once. The greasy kibble stuck to the ball and the small kibble falls right out. I can't adjust the opening to be small enough. So I will be looking again. I wish I could go back to Farmina but after 3 bad bags I am afraid to.

Thank goodness for this!

So far this dry food has worked out well. Even as good as this is, I know my senior cats need canned food too. I always add a little filtered water and mix it in their canned food to increase their water intake because I have this dry food left out for them to nibble on. They get fed small servings of canned food throughout the day. I understand that dry food could cause issues with their health for 2 reasons; 1 type of ingredients in it and 2 it pulls water from their body to process it. They need the additional water to maintain their health. (To select cat food, canned or dry,I did extensive research as to ingredients and ignored marketing claims which can often try to intentionally mislead So far this dry food has worked out well. For dry food I selected Gather) I know it is important to make sure no cat is ever fed only a dry food diet as it causes so many health issues. I made that mistake many years ago. But it is my opinion is that a really good quality dry food works as a supplement in case they get hungry and need to eat between meals. (My senior cats need to eat small meals often, so this works for my cats. ) The food itself is small pieces, which also makes it easier for a cat to eat. … more

They love the taste!!
By Merrick on Nov 7, 2018
I have desperately been searching for a cat food for a very long time that has limited ingredients and that could help one of my two cats with her sensitive stomach and her constant itchiness and bathing which may be due to an allergy. Finding this food that also has no GMOs was certainly going to be an option to try. So far so good, this is fairly new so I will keep you posted.

Protein too Low
By Fredricka on Oct 27, 2018
I love the idea of this food, as a vegan, organic, healthy eater myself I make sure my cat-kids eat as healthfully as possible, too. So I was excited about this food and the clean ingredients, but I didn’t check the protein percentage until I had ordered it. It’s only 30%, which is very low. Cats are obligate carnivores and thrive on high protein and a good amount of fat. Their bodies make all the vitamins they need, unlike human bodies, and while they do need some mineral supplementation, this company skimped on actual meet, apparently. I hope the people who make Gather will reformulate their cat food. Until then I won’t buy more.

Gather cat food is the BEST!
By AmyT on Jun 4, 2018
I have a picky Persian cat mix who is a super messy eater and has trouble picking up his food (he’s missing some teeth) I decided to try this food because it has really high grade organic ingredients, is made in Canada, and a reviewer mentioned that the pieces are real small. I have never seen my cat get so excited for a dry food before; no lies!! He eats this like it’s a treat and he can eat it! Yay! No more messy clean up or picky cat! I plan on switching my dogs to Gathers dry dog food soon.
