The amount of food your cat needs will vary depending on breed, activity level, age and climate. Use our feeding chart as a guide, adjusting the quantity fed to achieve your cat’s ideal weight. We suggest feeding twice a day. Provide fresh, clean water at all times. Love, attention, playtime and chin scratches should be given freely, as often as possible.

Transition Instructions

The transition period should be at minimum, ten days and could take upwards of two weeks, depending on your pet’s sensitivity to change. On day one, introduce 10% new food and 90% old food. Keep the food at this ratio for two or more days. Next, increase the ratio to 20% new food and 80% old food for two or more days. Repeat increasing in increments of 10% until you’re feeding 100% of the new food. If your pet experiences any kind of digestive upset during this time, try slowing down the process to let his or her digestive tract adjust to the new food. Some vomiting and/or diarrhea can be normal when introducing new foods as the digestive process and the naturally occurring bacteria your pet’s body requires is a complex and delicate system. If you experience any vomiting and/or diarrhea, be sure to reduce the amount of new food the next time you feed and overall, slow the whole transition period down even more.

  • Gather cat food is the BEST!

    By on

I have a picky Persian cat mix who is a super messy eater and has trouble picking up his food (he’s missing some teeth) I decided to try this food because it has really high grade organic ingredients, is made in Canada, and a reviewer mentioned that the pieces are real small. I have never seen my cat get so excited for a dry food before; no lies!! He eats this like it’s a treat and he can eat it! Yay! No more messy clean up or picky cat! I plan on switching my dogs to Gathers dry dog food soon.

  • Cats love it

    By on

My finicky feline loves this food - normally when I switch his food he refuses it for a while and eventually caves but this stuff he started to gobble up right away. My little girl will eat anything though =)

  • Black cat so shiny!

    By on

I've fed my 4 yr old cat different higher quality foods over her lifetime, always looking for better ingredients. There was always an ingredient I didn't like (canola oil, yeast, etc). I wish I could get her interested in raw like my dogs eat. I found Gather organic on Chewy.com, researched it and decided to try it. She just finished her 2nd bag and I noticed her fur has never been so shiny black! Its a keeper!

My cat has loved this food but....The most recent bag I received has tiny sized pieces about half the size of what we have been getting and my cat will not eat it now! What happened???

  • Almost a hit

I have 6 cats: 4 are ages 11 and 13 years, 1 is 6 years and the youngest is 2 years. They all LOVED this food! I do a ton of research on cat food because I want the best for them. I don't feed a lot of dry food, it's not what a cat would eat in the wild; they are obligate carnivores, so most of their diet is Instinct can or raw food. But once in a while, I'm in a huge rush, I give them a little dry. I was thrilled when I found gather; there's no harmful grains, no meat 'by-products', no meat 'meals', no guar gum, no bad much of anything... until we hit the ASH content :/ The idea for ash content is 8% or lower. Unfortunately, 2 of them (one, 11-years old and one 13-years old) will vomit it back up if they ear more than a teaspoon of it. … more

  • Was hopeful, but cats won't touch it

    By on

I really wanted the cats to like this food because of the quality ingredients, but neither one will touch it. Hopefully a cat at the humane society will appreciate it.

I have 3 cats and they are very finicky-I tried many dry foods (I feed them wet food also) and this is the only one all 3 loved. Excellent product and I'm very happy :)

  • Disappointed

    By on Top 250 Contributor

I was eager to try this food because I love the initial gradients. They're using chicken versus meal. I love their sourcing! However, this formula contains cranberries which are not good for cats and are especially hazardous to cats with chronic kidney disease.

  • AN EXCELLENT FOOD

    By on Top 1000 Contributor

Both fur babies love it. My Persian has a GMO allergy that results in itching, scratching, sores, and extreme fur loss. Previously tried a product with organic chicken but also non-organic ingredients so his coat was still thin and dull. After eating Gather for only a couple of weeks he has his full thick beautiful coat back.
