Questions & Answers

10 Customer Questions

In making Evangers organic Turkey n Butternut Squash, where is the ingredients, vitamins, and minerals sourced from?
Answer by ChewyMar 20, 2022
The vitamin and mineral supplements they use are sourced by a local American company. They source whatever vitamin and mineral supplements they can domestically, but some just are not available. They are then forced to source certain supplements overseas. Every ingredient must have a “Certificate of Origin” and “Certificate of Analysis” and they pay a premium to make sure no ingredients are sourced from China.

What percent of carbs is in this? I have a diabetic cat.
Answer by ChewyFeb 17, 2018
Diabetic cats need to reduce carbohydrate intake while maintaining a balanced diet. Evanger’s canned diets contain so much meat (exception: Vegetarian Dinner and 100% Sweet Potato), that they can often be incorporated into the diet of diabetic cats with healthy kidneys. Diabetic cats should eat more fowl than red meat. Gold Line Chicken Dinner and Beef Dinner offer dogs a balanced meal with no added carbohydrates. Similarly, Hand Packed Whole Mackerel with Gravy for cats is a delicious low - carb meal. The 8 Grain Free Game Meats and Hunk of Beef and Wild Salmon are nutrient-rich, tasty supplements or treats for diabetic dogs and cats. Please remember that diabetes is a serious medical condition that requires veterinary care. Pets being treated with insulin will require blood checks and possible insulin adjustment when changes are made to the diet.

Cats love it.

- Cats love it. - Smells like fresh meat, nothing else. Since Newman's stopped selling cat food, this is pretty much some of the only worthwhile canned cat food around. Costs more than the Newman's did, but it seems to be at least as good quality-wise. It smells like fresh meat--quite delicious smelling, actually. Cat loves it and thrives on it.

Healthy food

My indoor cats loved it, but my 2 older feral cats, not so much. I guess healthy is out!

Our three cats love this

Nothing left in the bowls when we feed our cats this food. A case of this keeps for three years, so it is obviously processed fresh. We were buying Castor & Pollux organic, and the cats were leaving half the food. It also wasn't as fresh as a case only kept for 10 months--probably what makes the difference!

Evanger's organics Turkey & Butternut Squash Dinner canned cat food

I bought this item because 2 of 4 cats have allergies. Pricey item, but wanted to find something the cats would eat and enjoy. Only one of four was actually interested enough to eat some of it, but never cleaned her bowl. Every cat is different so I'd recommend giving it a try. However, I wouldn't waste my money on it again.

All 3 picky cats like!

My cats are all 15 and super picky. They suffer from constipation and I felt butternut squash would be good for them. Surprisingly, all three of them nibble at this. It took a few cans, but, I can open a can and most of it is gone by end of day. So I rate this five stars, Definitely worth a try to order this because it seems like a good quality food.

better then some i've got.

been feeding this flavor for a while now. the cats seem to like it, they don't throw it up which is a plus. the only negative thing is the batches are not constant . some are full of bone pieces, some have a lot of liver, some are more juicy then others. cats really don't care for the ones with a lot of liver. it smells to. i don't feed it everyday, i use it just as a filler.

Not bad, pretty good

This seems good quality, I rotate this in about once per week and will continue to do so as long as quality is good.

Pixie has found a new favorite. She licks the plate clean! And I love it because it is organic and grain free. She doesn't mind the squash at all. You'd think there was fish mixed in with it.

Cat Took To it Right Away!

I’m not a fan of the large can (prefer opening a fresh 3 oz can for each meal) but my cat took right to the food and I will repurchase.

My cats prefer this.

Great soft texture and plenty of liquid. They like all the Evangers wet foods but this is their favorite. They’re older and it’s easy to eat.
