How Freeze-Drying Works

The freeze-drying process used by Grandma Lucy’s removes 92% of the water in the ingredients, leaving a food that is lightweight, compact, shelf-stable and preservative-free. Compared to other drying processes like dehydration or air drying, freeze-drying is better at retaining the characteristics of raw food. It preserves more flavor and keeps much of the food’s original texture after reconstitution.

About Grandma Lucy’s

Grandma Lucy’s began when founders Breann & Eric Shook started their quest for safe, healthy dog treats. Their 11-year old English Cocker Spaniel, Lucy, had developed food allergies that prevented her from eating most treats, and as they learned what was in pet food, they were surprised at the inferior ingredient quality. After consulting with vets and nutritionists, they started home cooking Lucy’s meals and treats, and what resulted was the basis for the healthy pet foods they make today.

Many people believe that garlic is harmful to dogs, and in large, concentrated doses this can be true. However, in the proportions used, it is highly beneficial to heart health, acts as a natural flea repellent, an antioxidant and anti-bacterial ingredient.

I was promised a delivery date and it was not delivered.

Lots of Venison, pleasant smell, easy to prepare

After finally finding a protein my 10month old dog could handle (Venison) I was met with the *new* challenge of finding a suitable/sustainable food option! It

After finally finding a protein my 10month old dog could handle (Venison) I was met with the *new* challenge of finding a suitable/sustainable food option! It was shockingly hard to find a venison-based food that was: - single protein (as he has such sensitivities) - legume-free (our vet, breeder, and trainer all agree with the DCM-connection studies) - relatively affordable (at his current age/in-tact-ness, the food we were giving him “Just Food For Dogs” would have been over $300 per WEEK!) I was relieved to find Grandma Lucy’s and even MORE thrilled that my sensitive AND picky pup both tolerated it AND liked it! (And the fact that it smells decent doesn’t hurt either!)

GREAT For my Frenchies

My two frenchies have been having troubles with different foods and having allergy flare ups, my neighbor actually recommended this product and had to try for myself!

I chose the venison since they are problematic with chicken products, only thing I would say is the smell is something you have to get used to but it's nothing unbearable! Highly recommend I add this with their freeze dried kibble and so far so great!
