You have to watch the ingredients in these items. Flavor says tuna and cheese but the first ingredient is chicken. Same for the salmon flavor. I think my cat is allergic to chicken but I don't think the small amount from this has caused any problems. I prefer the Tomlyn Pill Masker because this item is not as moist and the pills will break away from it if you aren't careful. I will still use it, though, because I can make it work and it does the job it is supposed to do. Pieces are a little large for a cat so I end up taking off the excess and throwing it away, even with 3 and 4 pills in it. I done use the little hole in it. I flatten out the whole thing and then wrap the pills.
My cat has had epilepsy for several years since he was 2 years old, and takes half of a tiny pill twice a day. The pill is small enough that I can split a pill pocket in half and fit the pill inside sufficiently. One pill and one pill pocket per day, but split into two. Saves money and it is easier for my cat to eat. I found that when I used the full pill pocket, it was too chewy for him and and would end up chewing too much, tasting the pill, and spitting it out. Half works perfectly. I have noticed that as the product gets close to expiration, it starts to dry out and is not as effective at sealing in the medicine. Other than that, as long as I keep the bag sealed, it stays fresh. This flavor is very very smelly though! I don't mind as long as my cat continues to eat it without any issues, but it is by far the smelliest of the options. I try to rotate the flavors to keep his interest.
This is a great product when you pet participates. If you cat or dog will eat them, it is a wonderful product. Tuck a pill in the dent, pinch close and serve. Lots of great flavors to choose from to keep all your pets happy. However, If your pet won’t eat them, this is pointless. And there is no middle ground. They will eat it or they won’t. I recommend you order the smallest pack and try it.
The tuna and cheese flavor is a hit with my cat. Just put meds in pill pocket and mix in with wet food. My cat gobbles it right up. No more fighting to get pill down. Definitely give this a try.
Caused my cat to vomit and have diarrhea. First I thought it was her new meds, but the vet said these were not side effects of her med. When I was told to give her a break for a couple days, I thought I would kept of the routine with the pill pocket treats, but she got sick yet again without the med.
One of our cats takes a pill daily. Generally she is pretty cooperative for my husband but less so for anyone else administering the med.I tried hiding the tiny pill in a number of different foods and treats and either she refused them or spit the pill out.To prevent our pet sitter from having a fight on her hands I tried these. Voila! Not only is there no hassle but if the treat and pill are delayed the kitty comes to remind us now!! LOL If only most products were as true in their advertising promises as Greenies pill pockets! We highly recommend these.
I actually gagged and ran to the bathroom upon opening and attempting to use this tuna and cheese flavor. Even my absolute garbage disposal of a cat won’t eat it this. Perhaps there are some animals that like to eat puke flavored things, but mine is not one of them! Oh lawd
These are new for Smudge. So far, so good. We got several flavors.
My cat won't eat it and knows a pill hidden. He is too smart for his own good.
My older cat Minnie Mouse is hard to pill. I use these pill pockets instead. She readily takes them without any trouble, making it so easy for the both of us.
