Teaching your dog to walk calmly is easier with the Chain Training Collar from Herm Springer. This safe and convenient training tool is designed to let dogs know when it’s time to heel. It's made with durable steel links that help to discourage pulling by applying pressure when he yanks on the leash. That pressure then encourages him to step back and relax his stride. It’s great for taking large dogs or tough pullers on a walk, protecting you and your best bud from getting into a dangerous situation.
Designed to help you train your dog—especially when it comes to pulling or tugging.
Steel collar comes in multiple sizes to suit a variety of dog breeds.
Great for walking strong pullers and large dogs, or training a new pup to heel.
Includes only top tier materials from Herm Sprenger.
Made with pride in Germany, utilizing modern techniques and tight quality control.
To select the most accurate size collar for your pet, measure the center of their neck with a cloth tape measure, a few inches down from their head. Pull the cloth tape measure snug, but not tight. If you don't have a cloth tape measure, you can use a piece of string and measure it with a rigid ruler afterwards. Make sure there's enough room for about two fingers between the collar and your pet's neck for comfort.
I have a 40lb Doberman mix who is pretty good on the leash, but needed light correction for when she gets excited. I followed the instructions on measurement and went with the 18 inch which is slightly larger than her neck measurement, and it was perfect length. However I forgot to take the girth into consideration, and she definitely requires as wider width as this is clearly for a lighter dog. Still, it works well and it’s cheap so I’ll just reorder another one since it was my goof. Make sure to check the width!
Colored chain color

I ordered this collar, as my dog was pulling way to much. I bought this collar, and I’ve used it, great and durable, but the paint chips off over time. Happy with the purchase, the color doesn’t stay on.

The length of the product was as expected. However, the thickness of the metal was low quality. The chain links were thin and appeared to easily break especially when considering the size of my shepherd.

Got the 4.0 mm 24 inch for my 2 Cane Corso and they are perfect now that I have the right size. They are way smaller than expected. The sizes in the description are the length of the chain and not the circumference so be careful. I definitely wouldn’t go by your dog’s neck size. My guys have big heads and the first set of collars that I ordered wouldn’t pass their heads. Also, know that the length is about 1/2 inch smaller than advertised. Tip for measuring…measure the circumference of the largest part of your dog’s head and add 1-1/2 inches to 2 inches. So if your dog’s head measures 22 inches, go with the 24 inch option.

Recommended for German Pinscher, Cocker spaniel, Mix breed, and sometimes the Pit mix. Used properly is a great training aid.
Good quality but sizing issues
on Aug 10, 2021
Really a nice quality collar, but, as many other reviewers have noted, sizing can be a problem. Even after measuring Elly's neck and thinking this collar would probably be a bit large, it was too small. Wish I'd ordered it 2" larger.
Size not as listed
on Jun 5, 2021
The sizing is not accurate for the selections. The "16 inch NECK" that I purchased doesn't even fit over my boy's head. Even if it could clip it around his neck it still would not fit. He's barley 50lbs and his neck is 14in and his head is maybe 15. With the sizing chart and description, I thought a 16 in would be more than enough. Had I known it is a 16 inch chain not the interior closed measurement I would have chosen a larger size. Would be better for a beagle, frenchie or a lab puppy.
However, this is the first time I have felt dissatisfied with an item purchase in 4 years of using Chewy and the quality of the item isn't bad either.
Small dog choke chain for leash training

Great collar for small dog but wish I could shorten it by about 3 inches. Drags on my 7 pound dog. If you have a shorter one please contact me!

Ordered this product that was supposed to be for a dog with up to an 18 in neck. Chain was 14 in.
22" chain is hardly 22"!!!!
on May 13, 2021
Watch out!! Giving this one star because they are selling a 22" chain that is not 22". The chain itself is only 19" long. From the outside edge of the large loops it's 21". The actual length that would be around the dogs neck is 20". I'd like to hear Herm Sprenger's explanation for this one. Maybe it's a German measurement. I'm not happy Chewy!!! How do I exchange this chain clip collar and not have it cost me? SiInce the 22" chain is only 20", then I need a 24" chain.
The chain seems to be of good quality. Just not happy that I bought it from Chewy.
