What type of potatoes are in this food?

Answer by ChewyJan 18, 2024
This recipe contains potato starch and skin from white potatoes which provides protein and carbohydrates.

Why is there salt in this dog food?

Answer by ChewyMar 10, 2020
Salt is an important component of your dog's diet and has a crucial role to play in his well being. Salt (or sodium chloride) maintains bodily fluids and is needed for the functioning of organs and nervous system. Salt can be added to products to improve their taste. However, since great taste can be achieved without unnecessarily high salt levels, Hill's strictly controls the salt content of their food, without compromising on the taste or its nutritional value. With Hill's® Science Diet®, you can be sure that your dog is getting just the right balance of nutrients without the risks associated with excess salt.

there chunks of potato visible in this food, or are they blended into the food?

Answer by ChewyFeb 26, 2019
The chunks of potato are not visible in the dog food.

It has been such a struggle finding dog food that (1) my dog will eat and (2) doesn't make her sick, but thankfully Hill's prescription fits both requirements. She loves it, and it agrees with her. She's been eating it for maybe six months now, thank god, and finding the right food for her to both enjoy and digest is no longer a fruitless quest. I am so grateful that Hill's Prescription Diet exists.

Ellie Mei is a really picky eater when it comes to canned food. She really seems to like this food! It is a bit hard. Not like a stew with broth. I put a little bit in her dry prescription food for variety. I also baked her some treats for something different. Cut up into bite size pieces and bake for 30 minutes on 350. Do not grease the cookie sheet. They should be a little crunchy. I put them in the fridge after they cool off. You'll need a butter knife to go around the inside of the can to get the food out. After a week if you haven't used them all then throw them out.

Formula changed added water for weight??

As previews review from Diana the can's content is somewhat dry and easy to take out in chunks and bake into treats BUT that all changed recently as last two flats

As previews review from Diana the can's content is somewhat dry and easy to take out in chunks and bake into treats BUT that all changed recently as last two flats (12 cans) were sticky mush and it sticks to everything. Apparently its flats marked 08 2027 T012 0825 183, possibly earlier dates than 08 2027 is the old formula. Chewy as usual is great and sent me the second flat but as I said earlier its the same. Hills has to read these posts and make necessary changes.

Okay. Great for pills

It’s very expensive. But it works well to give pills to dogs due to its putty texture. I don’t think it’s helped my dogs skin because she still has pyoderma spots

Great food, but not great flavor

Our pup loves the venison version of this food but doesn't quite love the duck and struggles to eat it. It's still good food, but maybe not this flavor for picky

My dog is obsessed with duck

My dog is on rx dog food and can only eat limited ingredients. She’s tired of venison so we switched to duck and it’s her new favorite food. Easily tolerated, no

The texture is great and my picky husky likes it

I like how I could break it up with spatula to mix it with his kibble, unlike other brands that solid and cant break apart/crumble.
