Improving Lives Together

Groundbreaking Nutrition for Sensitive Dogs

Dogs with skin and coat conditions or food sensitivities can benefit from Hill's Prescription Diet z/d and d/d foods. Prescription Diet d/d has limited ingredient nutrition and a single intact animal protein. The Prescription Diet z/d food features a highly hydrolyzed protein and a single carbohydrate source to minimize the risk of allergic reactions. Many pet parents discover that simply eating the right food helps eliminate food-related causes of skin irritation and helps avoid reactions to food.

Z/d has been the only hydrolyzed food that my dog will eat. But she gets borborygmi every 3 to 4 days on this food and also scoots her butt and licks her butt multiple times a day, as this food still elicits allergic symptoms in her. This food seems to be causing GI issues that make her refuse to eat for an entire day every 3 or 4 days. Very frustrating!

We’ve been loyal Hill’s customers for 5 years and my dog has been on z/d for 2 years. It absolutely cured all of his GI issues and gave us back our life after he had months-long diarrhea and stomach issues. Since we received our first bag of kibble with the new formula (about 2 months ago), his GI issues have started returning. I gave it time to see if he just needed to adjust but it’s clearly worsening. Very disappointing that Hills would make a major recipe change to a food that’s specifically for pets with food sensitivities. We’re looking for a new option going forward.

Hill's Needs to Stop Changing Formulas

We got absolutely no warning that Hills added probiotics or whatever they're calling this "Activebiome+" formula. This went from the only food we could consistently give our dog to her having immediate issues after only one meal with it. Since this was on autoship for us, we get it as her food is running out, which gives us no time to gradually transition her from one formula to the next. I see Hill's is getting rightly reamed out for this on their website, and this is the second time this happened. We used to use Hill's Science Diet wet food, which they also inexplicably decided to change the formula of some months back. Why not just offer new products instead of fundamentally changing ones currently on the market, when we all know that doing so is harmful to our pets?

Delivery service is horrible

First off I have no problem with Chewy or their products. My problem is the delivery company which they use. FedEx left my 3 bags of prescription Science dog food

First off I have no problem with Chewy or their products. My problem is the delivery company which they use. FedEx left my 3 bags of prescription Science dog food at my mailbox which is a mile from my house. When I went to check my mail I found it. My dog feed has fire ants in it thanks to FedEx. I want to know who is going to pay for my package when it stolen because it was not delivered to my house. I want if I have the option to use a different delivery service.

Good kibble for Little Dogs!

Very small kibble size (even smaller than the feline kibble of the same brand) so it's good for smaller dogs or dogs with not so many teeth!

Essie was vomiting first thing in the morning on an empty stomach so our vet gave us some meds for her to take before bed to help her tummy feel better. Then they retired and our new vet is all about solving a problem that may or may not exist. Blood work was normal so next step. RX diet. She prescribed Essie the Hills zd though I mentioned she has never had an ounce of corn in her 11 years of life OR much chicken that wasn’t cooked fresh by me once in a blue moon. Still she insisted and we started it. first Essie was vocally expressing discomfort, so she said “feed her more” so I increased the frequency of her feedings as she was already getting 2tbsp 4 time a day to remedy empty tummy vomiting. Now she is getting fed 8 times a day. That is when the itching started. I asked Hills and they promised me it’s not the food. I asked the vet and said she must have developed an environmental allergy all of a sudden (which isn’t impossible) the Claritin at night helped a little but she got hives and scabs so they RXd her apoquel. A week in to taking that 2x a day and she is still itching like crazy. The vet says “give it a full 2 weeks” so I say, nope and switch her back to her old food. Day 2 and the itching is minimal. By day 4 the itching is gone. Now she is still on the allergy medication so of course I have to restart the Hills zd and see if the itching comes back bc too many variables. And it did. Almost immediately. I wish vets would just listen to their clients owners. Some of us actually pay attention to our babies

BE WARNED-Formula change

My dog used to have frequent issues with throwing up and bloody diarrhea so my vet prescribed her this food. She showed immediate improvement and has now been on this food for 3 years and her stomach issues went away completely. Unfortunately, the most recent bag I received smelled off, and for the past few weeks my dog has suddenly lost interest in eating her kibble and has started vomiting again, as well as alternating between bloody diarrhea or very dark/almost black stool. I contacted Chewy to ask for a replacement thinking we got a bad batch, but Chewy informed me that Hill’s recently changed the formula. I was unaware of this change, so not only does the new formula make my dog sick, but I didn’t even have the opportunity to slowly transition her to the new formula. Why did Hill’s not disclose this information to consumers? Unacceptable-especially for a PRESCRIPTION food that is meant for dogs who have allergies and stomach issues. Will be contacting my vet to find a new prescription food. Shout out Chewy for the great customer service and refunding me though!
