About Royal Canin Dermatology For Dogs

Worried About Your Dog’s Skin Health?

Skin health concerns are common and can appear anywhere on your dog’s body. Your veterinarian is the expert on your dog’s health, so you should always consult with this trusted advisor to find the best solutions for your pet. This specialized expertise is why Royal Canin works closely with veterinarians to develop formulas that support skin health.

Common Causes of Skin Health Concerns

Environmental Sensitivities

Pollen, plants and dust are environmental factors that can trigger an immune response in some dogs.

Food Sensitivities

Your veterinarian may recommend a diet elimination trial to help determine if your pet has a sensitivity to certain proteins in his current diet.

Parasites

Your dog can pick up external parasites such as mites, fleas, ticks and lice from contaminated sources, both indoors and out

Infection

Puppies, older dogs, and dogs that have recently been ill may be more susceptible to bacterial infections that can lead to skin health concerns.

How Can Nutrition Help?

Your veterinarian may recommend a Royal Canin Dermatology formula for your dog. These special formulations can:

Aid digestive health by regulating movement through the GI tract and supporting balanced digestive flora

Support the skin’s natural protective barrier

Aid cellular health with a complex blend of antioxidants.

Promote healthy skin and coat by providing long chain omega-3 fatty acids in the diet

Find The Perfect Balance

With a dry and wet feeding routine, dry food supports positive oral health while wet food supports healthy hydration.

Autoship

Keep your pet's feeding on schedule.  Set your order for Autoship to make sure you always have their veterinarian-recommended nutrition on hand.

Amazing for small dog with food allergies

Lucy is a 12 1/2 year old, 6.5 lb Yorkie-poo with intermittent vomiting after eating grass her whole life. She has always been extremely picky too and I can count the number of kibble she at per day 12-30 each. Her favorite treat is home made chicken strips. Her emesis became a bit bloody this past year and it did not resolve after removing a mast cell tumor that we found so the vet had her try the Royal Canin Hydrolyzed Protein diet in a can. SHE ATE IT! She had never eaten wet food before. I ordered the kibble and she loves it! I took a video of her eating because she has never eaten like this in her life! She no longer vomits either. I give her kibble mostly and sometimes the canned to give her some variety. She is eating some vegetables as snacks and is continuing to add new foods into her diet. I know it is expensive but I have a new dog and feel very guilty for taking so long to figure this out.

A lifesaver

Our girl was having terrible issues with IBD, vet prescribed a hydrolyzed diet. We started with the other brand, she hated it and would refuse it after a couple meals. We got her Royal Canin and she loves it! She will gobble down a bowl of kibble, her poops are good and she’s finally gaining some weight. Definitely more palatable then the other brand.

Convenient

It has been very difficult to find this prescription food on the shelf in California and Arizona. My daughter uses the exact same food for her dog and has been getting it through Chewy for some time. I am very pleased that I will get food monthly from Chewy and I don’t have to call all over town to see who has this food available. Chewy has made my life easier!

Eh?! Not sure yet

My 10yo Boston loves to eat and was never picky,, this he’s not too crazy about. Whether it helps with his IBD we’re not sure yet, but I’m not too optimistic with 2 1/2 weeks in. Absolutely no problems with chewy though

Saved my dog! No more GI issues.

My senior dog was struggling with repetitive episodes of hemorrhagic gastroenteritis along with frequent vomiting. We knew her GI was complicated and had her allergies tested years ago. We were fortunate to only struggle with GI issues every so often until she became a senior. After seeing an internal medicine specialist, it was determined she had IBD. We switched her over to this food, hesitantly. I wish I had switched her years ago! Her stools have never been so consistent, her fur is so shiny, and I can tell she feels so much better. And I rest assured knowing that Royal Canin has done feed trials and a ton of studies to ensure my pup is getting adequate nutrition.

Worth every penny!!!!!

My Italian greyhounds had the worst digestive problems ever since I got them. Tried all kind of recommended diet regimens and nothing worked. One of them got hemorrhagic colitis and lost a lot of blood and got very dehydrated and was nearly hospitalized and knew I had to figure something out once and for all. After some extensive research on a canine hydrolyzed diet I found this food and had their vet start prescribing it and is the only thing that has worked. My girls have been free feeders their entire life. But this is the first food they finish when I put out. Had to even get a bowl to slow them down when they eat. They love the taste and they’ve never been healthier. Haven’t had any stomach problems since starting. Worth every penny.

Problem solved

The product itself is amazing. Our dog was getting skin rashes and the VET suggested this as a Hail Mary pass before sending our dog to a dermatologist or allergist. The product did the trick. Skin problems cleared up. CHEWY is the best pet company ever. The representatives are so nice, very knowledgeable and I love not having to search all over town to find out who has the product I need in stock and that it is sent to me when I needed!!

Sometimes this dog food is hard to track down and chewy made it so easy to get. Within a day or two it was at my doorstep. So easy.

A Great Change

We have been using the hydrolyzed protein food for over a year. We were using the regular because we had no idea they had the small breed formula. I have a Jack Russell. Which small breed is best for him. While placing my order the regular size was out of stock and so the small breed popped up which was a first. I quickly placed in my cart and ordered. Once we received I quickly gave Rico his food a NJ d he devoured it. Smaller bites easier on his teeth!

Was OK for awhile!

Allergies are really hard to isolate and apparently most times they are due to environment rather than food. Our JRT did well on this food for awhile and then resorted back to chewing himself and incessant licking. The food is probably just fine for most dogs, but we opted to move on to another brand (Canidae) in an effort to mitigate the allergy symptoms. Similar price but no vet approval. Fingers crossed!
