What are the feeding instructions per weight for this food?
Answer by ChewyJan 22, 2019
Please see feeding instructions below.

Each can seems to have one or two black dots. Could it be mold?
Answer by ChewyFeb 25, 2021
The tiny black dots do occur in a variety of foods. It's a reaction of 2 of the minerals, sulfur and copper, that react in high heat during the canning process. The heat during the canning process is to ensure the meat is safe to eat, and during this process, the sulfur and copper react which creates black specks. It is safe for your pet to eat the food.

It lists the minimum fat - what is the maximum fat? My guy needs low fat (pancreatitis)
Answer by ChewySep 05, 2019
The recipes are formulated to target the minimum fat content that is provided in the guaranteed analysis, any deviation from this as-fed percentage would be minimal. Please speak with your veterinarian to ensure this value is low enough to be a suitable diet for your pet.

Is this ok for a dog with chicken allergies?
Answer by ChewyMay 26, 2019
While this does contain hydrolyzed chicken liver, it's recommended to speak to your vet to find what is best for your pet's current treatment plan.

Mold in Food

This was prescribed after my dog had stomach surgery. She’s extremely healthy & recovered well. It was a year ago. A very active well cared for 14 year old beagle /Boston terrier mix. Chewy’s customer service employees are extremely friendly however their quality of product storage and shipping has gone way down. Dented cans in every shipment which they replace cost but due to where I live , I need the food not a refund. One shipment every singe can was dented out of 4 cases! The mold, it was hard to see- luckily I had on my reading glasses and saw the black mold and started opening can after can- all moldy! My dog had eaten a few can and was sick I thought it was her stomach, aging. Vet diagnosed her with mold toxicity. She’s recovering but she could have died. They know mold is an issue. I’ve told them as have other customers. These are our family members who trust us to care for and feed them .. this food is not inexpensive. Their distribution center. Is careless. Packing is poor. There’s no way I trust Chewy with my dogs life, safety anymore. I have her food shipped from the animal hospital where she was cared for- treated. Chewy owes me for vet bills. My dog is recovering, if anything happens to her, Chewy is accountable. I’m furious with this company. Do not trust your pets life to them.

Life Saver :)

My 17 year old miniature dachshund Chico hated his dry hydrolyzed food & as a result was loosing too much weight & becoming frail. My Vet suggested supplementing with canned hydrolyzed and he LOVES this, he jumps up & down and practically screams while I am mixing this canned version into his dry. I haven't officially weighed him yet, but I can already tell just by looking at him that he has put on a little bit of weight and is filling out more which he needed to do (a healthy amount of course because of dachshund back precautions). But I was really worried that his weight loss was going to hasten a decline but now I am seeing a senior dog who is happy about mealtimes again. Thanks!

Comiring chunks of can food hours later

This food worries me after the last case. One dog started acting sick (panting, pacing, excessive thirst and urination and whining. Took him to the veterinarian and two things are off in blood work. Then the other dog start vomiting after the morning meal, then vomited hours later in the afternoon. There was chunks of can food not digested or broke down. Stopped all can food and dogs are acting fine again. Bloodwork in 4 weeks to see if anything changes. Not saying it’s the food, but it’s odd what happened to my dogs.

Good addition

Our dog has been on the dry food only vegetables, our vet recommended that we also try mixing this can with it! So far he likes it very much. It is costly buying both but if he need it that is fine with us..he had been having GI issues..

My dog eats it readily

My dog needs hydrolyzed protein dog food. Purina Pro Plan chicken flavored wet dog was my fourth try in finding one that she actually ate because she enjoyed it. The previous ones she ate only because she didn't want to starve.

Great for IBS

We started my dog on the dry version of this Pro Plan, and she didn't like it after being on such a restricted diet for her IBS. I started mixing in this canned version with the dry, and she loves it. It is hard and dry, but I actually microwave it with a little water, and then mix it in with the dry, and it does a great meal for her. She does not like it after the can has been opened and the meat is not heated - go figure, but I will do this easy prep to get her to eat a good amount! I can even cover her pills with the warmed meat, and she will gladly take them.

The vet recommended this

My dog was diagnosed with stage three kidney failure, and this is what the vet recommended, and I cannot even get him to eat it at all. He sniffs it and walks away.

I have a 14 year old chihuahua mix who suddenly had stomach issues. We went through several foods, and yet this seems to be the only thing that helped her

Seems to be doing the job

We recently changed to this product at the request of our veterinarian. Our dog seems to be enjoying the product and is feeling fine.

Has its purpose but low nutrient density

I think this food serves a good purpose to identify whether your dog’s digestive issues may be caused by allergies by removing allergens from the food. However, as part of that process, it greatly reduces the nutrient density of the food. Thus my 45 lb pup was supposed to eat 3 full cans per day. While she liked the food, I ultimately switched to Purina pro sensitive stomach (and have had success with it) because it seemed her system was struggling to absorb the volume needed from this formulation (which i determined because she would have good stools in the morning after more time to digest but no other time).
