If my dog is allergic to chicken can I still get the chicken flavor?

Answer by ChewyAug 05, 2019
Since this dog food contains Hydrolyzed Chicken Liver and Hydrolized Chicken, it is not recommended to feed to dogs with allergies or an intolerance to chicken. Each pet is unique so we encourage you to seek professional guidance to select the best products along with their current health.

I thought garlic was supposed to be bad for dogs. Why does this formula contain garlic oil?

Answer by ChewyNov 18, 2018
Many people believe that garlic is harmful to dogs, and in large, concentrated doses this can be true. However, in the proportions that we use, it is highly beneficial to heart health, acts as a natural flea repellent, an antioxidant and anti-bacterial ingredient. Just like with humans, many things are healthy (and indeed necessary) in small doses but potentially harmful in large, concentrated doses.

Very impressed with how much this food has improved my dogs allergies! My dog had been on RC NP since she was a puppy due to skin allergies, and even on that food she needed apoquel shots and would sometimes need medicated shampoo. About 6 mos ago her skin started getting worse so I looked for a new food and switch to Pro Plan HA. My dogs allergies are gone now! She no longer needs Apoquel shots and her skin and coat have never been better!! After switching to Pro Plan HA, her skin did get worse before it got better, but my vet said to stick it out for 8 weeks and by week 5 or 6 I started seeing the improvement!

Our 6-year old German Shepherd has had allergy problems with her skin and ears pretty much her entire life. Over the years, we’ve spent thousands of dollars with vet bills trying pills, creams, drops etc. without much luck. We switched up her food over the years to different proteins, different brands, grain free, and even two separate “fresh food” options and yet nothing seemed to help. During a recent visit to our vet (for the same problems we’ve had for years), our Vet says “hey, I know I’ve recommended this HA food in the past and I see you still haven’t tried it. I believe it will help” After bitting the bullet on the ridiculous expensive cost for this dry kibble food, we decided to give it a shot. After just a couple weeks, we are absolutely amazed at the results! Her skin and her coat is looking SO much better! She’s not bitting at her skin, she has stopped scratching all day long and her ears are even clearing up now! We are simply amazed. This food has been an absolute life saver for her. I wish we would’ve figured this out years ago but glad we finally have found her cure. This food is expensive but if your pup is having any kind of problems like ours has, do yourself a favor and switch right now! I’m looking forward to just seeing the vet on an annual basis instead of every 4 weeks!

I was amazed how quickly this item was delivered. I figured it would take 2-3 days to receive once I sent the prescription via text. My order was delivered the next day! Chewy's really is the best. Unless there's a significant price difference when pricing dog items, I usually order from Chewy's. You guys are the best!!!!!

Kibbles too big and too hard for small senior dog

Our vet suspected that Roxie had a food allergy of some kind after prescribed meds and vet visits in the thousands of dollars all failed to solve her under-paw licking and chewing. The kibbles in this brand of dog food are not small-dog friendly. I have to break them with a hammer into smaller pieces she can eat because she's a senior dog who had her molars removed. I try to make it more inviting by slicing up tiny bits of the canned version over her food. Even after soaking, the pieces (large or small) are still incredibly hard. What I have been able to give her, though, has seemed to help her problem a lot. We'll know more after the 12-wk prescribed trial is over. We are senior citizens ourselves; the cost of this food is outrageous.

HYDROLYZED PURINA KIBBLE WORKS

After beginning this new food, less than one week later our GSD's skin allergies subsided then disappeared. It's been a month now and Zeus not only craves this food and loves it, it brought back his quality of daily life. No scratching, no skin lesions, no bleeding from the paws nor "weeping". Don't wait, don't hesitate, contact your vet and get your Love started on hydrolyzed dog food. My only regret was not prompting the change sooner. I could've saved tons of money on meds, antibiotics and foolish remedies on FB that did nothing. They sell hope in a bottle that just doen't work. Hydrolyzed Purina Dog Food works, it's worth it.

First time in 6.5 yrs my dog doesn’t have digestive issues and doesn’t have to take a steroid daily. It’s been 3.5 yrs since on this diet HA and no meds and is healthier and more playful than her first 6.5 yrs of life. We can also use this HA food for our other dog as well with no digestive issues and she doesn’t have any problems with it at all. So we feed to both dogs so they are happy and healthy!

Tried 2 different Purina Hydrolized flavors for my catahoulah leopard who use to eat anything (literally) we got a script for this food because of allergies our vet recommended this due to allergies for his ears. I cannot really tell if he is any better because he continues to have the same issues with the allergies but I cannot watch him suffer eating the purina food anymore. Returning to his hills sensitive stomach RX

Terrible Delivery Experience

I have been a Chewy customer for years with hardly any complaints. If there were ever any problems they were immediately resolved. I’m not sure what is happening

I have been a Chewy customer for years with hardly any complaints. If there were ever any problems they were immediately resolved. I’m not sure what is happening lately, but maybe stick with FedEx and don’t use a delivery service with horrible service like this Ontrac. They stated the delivery address is incomplete and undeliverable. HOWEVER we’ve lived here for years and get MULTIPLE deliveries a month from Chewy and have NEVER had any issues receiving packages. So now i guess I’ll just wait some more for an update on when i might receive this item? Chewy customer service chat also missed the mark today in my opinion and indicated I’d receive an email within 24hrs on when the package would be delivered. Like you can’t just tell me? Thanks for nothing at this point.
