Pets can be sensitive to sudden changes in their diets. For this reason, it is extremely important to follow a gradual transition plan to best support your pet's health and product effectiveness. It is recommended to follow at least a 7-day transition plan before exclusively feeding your pet a new food. Cats will often refuse mixed diets, so we recommend adding the new food to a separate bowl from the old food. Start by mixing 75% of your pet's current diet with 25% of the new diet on Day 1 and Day 2. On Day 3 and Day 4, mix 50% of the current diet with 50% of the new diet. On Day 5 and Day 6, mix 25% of the current diet with 75% of the new diet. On Day 7, you can feed your pet the new food exclusively. Ask your Veterinarian about the best way to transition your pet to a new food.

---|---|---|
Days 1-2 | 75% | 25% |
Days 3-4 | 50% | 50% |
Days 5-6 | 25% | 75% |

My cat has had IBD for about three years. She has been on metronidazole for the duration. Then in the last 18 months or so she has also been on prednisolone and chlorambucil on and off. Without these drugs her poop was soupy, clay colored and stunk to high heaven. With these drugs, it was formed, soft, voluminous and still stunk a bit. A few weeks ago, she had a seizure due to the metronidazole so I had to take her off that then she had a seizure from the chlorambucil a week ago and I had to take her off that. Started her on GI Biome canned and dry. She loves the stuff thus far and her poop is now formed, firm, compact, dark in color and does not smell. She is still taking 2.5mg prednisolone three times a week but that is it and I will probably take her off that if things continue as they have been with GI Biome. I cannot believe the results and that they were almost immediate. If anything changes, I will update my review. I could not be happier with the results!
I find most cat food instructions (and vets!) recommend a dry food transition process that is simply too fast - maybe 2 weeks in total. We learned the hard way going too fast with Ultamino which our cats detested initially. We tried again over a year later and went VERY slowly (over course of 2-3 MONTHS incorporating with old food). When Ultamino became unavailable we tried this Hill's gastrointestinal biome and haven't looked back. My Sammy's stools are not perfect, but this food combined with Purina EN cans have definitely combined for improvement! He feels good too, rolling and playful. Go slowly, I mean REAL slowly. I'm convinced cats can transition to any dry food!
I have two cats. Both need to lose weight. They have been on a diet cat food that both like for years. With one having the threat of IBS, vet prescribed GI BIOME. EXPENSIVE AND both of them like it.
I have a 13 yo female cat who had constant diarrhea and vomiting, to the point where she was sleeping most of the day and listless. I'd tried other cat food for cats with sensitive stomachs, but had no success. My new vet suggested this brand. It has been a miracle turn-around! She now zooms around at least once a day, back to her old self. Thank you, Hill's!
If you cat is suffering from IBD, Hills Gastrointestinal Biome dry food can help. Ordered this for one cat who has IBD related diarrhea, and it has helped. Also giving it to one very senior cat with constipation issues and it has helped him so much that I no longer have to give miralax. Both cats like the taste of this food. If your veterinarian recommends, this food is worth trying.
My 2 cats have both had diarrhea since contracting giardia as kittens and are one year and one year and a half old. They have suffered thru multiple vet visits, surgery and every allergy free food known to man. Specialist Vet Internal medicine did multiple tests and ruled out infection, a good thing. She put them both on Biome. It took awhile, about a month, to see improvement. The first time they both had normal stools I started to cry. Having drippy poop all over the house and cleaning this off the butts of two long,-haired Maine Coons has been a nightmare in itself. I believe stress can bring softer stools, or treats, but so far they are holding their own. So happy. Vet advised not to add their favorites to this diet. Just stay the course.
I am very happy with the price of the dry cat food my Vet recommended for my boy Cruz. All 3 of my cats love it and it has improved his digestion very much.
This food is crazy expensive but crazy worth it. I mix it with other food because I can't afford to feed this to my little cat man 100%. Doing so has definitely helped with his stools. Before this food, we had a very uncertain and unhappy household because my sweet kitty would have bouts of very loose stools that he would plop down anywhere he could hide them. My vet recommended this product, and the problem has gotten significantly better. It may be resolved completely if this food was all he ate, but alas, my wallet cannot bear that weight. I give this product 4 stars because of the price. So if you're hesitant, think of options like mixing this food with something more affordable because there is hope for a pet even if it's just a 50% change in their diet. My cat is happier and healthier. I'm happier, for sure. Thank you Hill's Prescription. Now please lower the price. :-)
This has been a staple for my cats as they are now beyond "teenage years" and sometimes need digestive help. They love this food, and I know it's healthy for them.
My cat has a severe GI problem and this is the only dry food he can eat. Also their wet food. Both are saving his life. Dry food always available but wet food (which is saving him the most) not so much which causes problems.
