Appropriate for use in any type of home. For optimal health considerations, provide a grate to separate pet from soiled litter. Cover floor with loose product to a depth of 1 to 3 inches. At least once per week, remove all bedding and wash enclosure with a mild soap solution. Rinse cage thoroughly with clean water to ensure the removal of soap residue. Frequency of cage cleaning depends on the size of your pet’s home and number of animals. Always replace bedding with fresh product. Maintaining a clean cage will keep your pet from developing respiratory problems due to ammonia build up in the cage caused by urine. Used bedding should be discarded.

awful smell
By Tasha on Feb 10, 2021
I bought the 226L for my two bunnies to hopefully save money in the long run but this was absolutely NOT worth it. It has this strong awful smell, it tracks everywhere, and it’s not like the other aspen bedding I have got for my bunnies. Will not be purchasing again and I definitely do not recommend this to anyone.

Great bedding, bad packaging
By Shelly on Jan 29, 2021
I love this bedding for my rats, I just wish that the packaging was more convenient. When opening, the bedding ends up scattering on the floor. And there's no easy way to reseal it. At the very least, I would appreciate it being easier to open without making a mess.

Great bedding for mice!
By MouseMom on Dec 6, 2020
I used to purchase Carefresh bedding for my mice and while the paper based bedding absorbed all urine and did the job, I did find that it was incredibly expensive and I couldn't easily tell when an area was soiled, so it made spot cleaning nearly impossible. I started purchasing aspen bedding and this stuff is now my go-to. It's light so you can tell when an area has been soiled. I also enjoy the smell of aspen and feel that it helps mask some of the odors while not being an artificial scent. I love the natural color the aspen bedding products to the cage. The mice themselves love this bedding too! They enjoy burrowing in it and stuffing their wooden toys and hideys full of the stuff. I've used this bedding for years now and have never had a problem with my mice being housed in this. Other things I appreciate are that the 'bale' that it comes in is very compressed so it saves a lot of space. I also do not see much dust, if at all any! The shavings are nice and smooth and once in a while you'll get a big chunk here and there but the quality is pretty consistent. Great product and will continue using this for years to come. … more

Chicken Coop Care
By Coop on Jan 8, 2021
Was reading about chicken care and discovered that pine makes chicken sneeze and switched to this aspen bedding. There’s a TON of it, keeps odors down, bugs away, absorbs water very well when they tip over their waterer, it doesn’t cause dust when it’s placed in their coop and it’s neatly packaged. I would say that’s a win, win.

Great Hampster Bedding
By Cats on Dec 22, 2020
I have a granddaughter who had "hampster bedding " as one of the items on her Christmas list. It was taking almost all her allowance to stay supplied. She was purchasing the little bags at a dept. store. I had Chewy drop-ship directly to her home. She almost fell over when she saw the size of the bale. She said it was better than the bedding she 'd been getting in the smaller packages. It will last her a long time. She's loving it.

Great value healthy bedding
By RobinC on Dec 15, 2020
This bedding is lasting forever as I mix it with wood pelleted litter. I wouldn't buy any other type of wood bedding Aspen is the only healthy wood bedding for small pets! Note it is not meant for litter wood flake bedding does not absorb so buy a litter as well as bedding it just adds some softness to wood pellet litter.

Guinea pigs
By Kime on Jan 25, 2021
I've gotten a lot of different shavings over the years,,, but this one has to be my favorite. It was softer and had less big pointy hard pieces of wood. And it smells great!

Not bad at all!
By Good on Nov 27, 2020
I ordered this bedding very carefully as I was trying to find the right bedding for my rats. So, I ordered the smaller version and after a week of use I can say they enjoy it. Of course there was a little bit of sneezing when I first put it in, but once they got used to it was totally fine. I do recommend mixing this bedding with a paper type of bedding like Kaytee Clean and Cozy.
