Every dog plays differently and, since not all toys are created equal, it’s always best to keep a close watch on your pup in case things get ruff. Supervised play will help toys last longer and most importantly keep your pal safe. No dog toy is truly indestructible, so always remove the toy from playtime if pieces begin to break off. Designed for light/moderate chewing.
Loved this toy with my English Cream retriever 6 years ago. Bought it again for a new golden retriever puppy just recently. She still has baby teeth and is just 10 weeks old so not very strong. However, the head has already come apart from the body. Very disappointing especially when it held up when purchased 6 years ago with my girl who was a lot more aggressive with her toys. Curious if the manufacturing materials changed.
My dog loved this bear until it literally almost killed. I'm not sure when or how, but he got the rope out of it. He's had several of these bears and I always throw them away when they start to show signs of wear, but this time I didn't have that chance. He got some of the rope out and swallowed it causing a linear intestinal blockage, the most dangerous type of bowel obstruction for a dog. I'm lucky to have a top notch emergency veterinary hospital with surgeons on staff within an hour from my house. They were able to operate and remove the rope. After a couple days in the hospital, a new scar across his entire abdomen and over $9,000 later, my boy is back home. I would highly advise not purchasing any of the Kong knot toys. Based on their disclaimer, I'm certain my dog isn't the first this has happened to!
Our rescue dog, Annie, usually demolishes her stuffed toys within a week. This bear is still in one piece!!! It is her favorite toy & she carries it everywhere. She is very jealous if anyone else picks it up. We have a bet going on how long it will last. So far, so good
It only took one hour for our girl to chew through the little bear's body and rip out the stuffing. $10 for one hour of fun...at least our girl looked like she had fun. Nope, can't buy this one again and still actively searching for something that she can't chew up so quickly.
My dog loves to sleep with stuffies and treats them like her baby. Unfortunately, she loves them too hard and is now only allowed supervised visitation. This variety lasts her a little longer than others. I wish there was zero stuffing in it (it’s mostly rope but there is some stuffing). Will continue to buy although I think it’s a bit expensive for what it is.
As soon as we opened our Chewy Box-- Winston grabbed his new friend and ran to his bed with it. We had to ask several times to see it, just to cut the tags. Holds up very well. We even play tug of war. He has chewed one ear off, but no other damage. He even takes bear to bed. It has received lots of love. Will buy the XL next time, but this bear is big enough for a Golden.
I don't usually allow soft toys for my dogs. They live them, but soft toys can cause bowel obstruction. After losing a beloved dog to bowel obstruction from a soft toy, I banned them. This one is different. It's just the right size for our 1 year old mini longhaired dachshund. She's rough with it, but it is holding up well and it's put away if I'm not around. It's sturdy and appealing to the dog's. I will replace it when it eventually gets too ratty.
I have a GSD and a Border Collie/Lab mix. They are both super toy destructive, but my GSD is in particular. Stuffed toys and rope toys are his favorite but stuffed toys usually last minutes in our house. Naturally, this being a combo toy made me try it out right away. I don't know what it is about these bears, but my guys love them! My GSD in particular has a fondness for his bear that is just the sweetest thing. He carries it with him everywhere and even has us play fetch with it with him (he has never played fetch b4. He is lazy, lol). This bear has been put through the ringer and finally been fairly destroyed after a good 9 months, which to us, means it is an awesome success. I'm online to purchase two new ones for my guys as I type. Please never stop making them (Kong) and please never stop selling them (Chewy).
For being a Kong product this lasted a whole 3 hours in our house before it was in shreds. Keeping in mind it was only played with fir about 20 minutes by a 8 month old goldendoodle.
Our Clover girl LOVES this. The quality is outstanding and the durability is amazing. Clover is a heavy chewer and this has held up wondefully!
