Both the ingredient list in the photos and the Nutritional Info tab do not list carrageenan as an ingredient. Can you please confirm that carrageenan is NOT an ingredient in the turkey recipe?
Answer by ChewyDec 25, 2020
At this time, Merrick Purrfect Bistro Grain-Free Turkey Pate Canned Cat Food does not contain carrageenan.

where does the meat come from, is it imported? If so can you verify that it is not contaminated with excess antibiotics or preservatives/
Answer by ChewyFeb 06, 2019
Merrick crafts their recipes with the world's best ingredients from the best producers. Most of their ingredients come from the USA, however, in certain circumstances some ingredients may come from another country (like lamb from New Zealand) to ensure the highest quality possible. Each and every ingredient must meet Merrick’s own rigorous quality standards. Ingredients are tested upon arrival, samples are tested throughout production, and all pet food is tested before its released for sale.

Made all 4 of my cats sick

This used to be a trusted staple in my house due to quality and my 4 cats loved it. Because I had ordered it before, I didn't read the most recent reviews. Yes - the formula definitely changed. Instead of the hard, dry texture most reviewers commented about; the can I opened from my recent case had a horribly smelly, runny, discolored appearance. Unfortunately, I did give it to my cats who projectile vomited and had several bouts of runny diarrhea a few hours after eating it. I randomly opened a few other cans with the hope it was just a bad can but the food smelled and appeared consistent. I'm very disappointed in Merrick and upset about their food making my cats sick. I had to throw all the remaining cans away, as it's not even remotely suitable to donate.

Cats HATE the new formula

I'm so bummed out, my five cats have been enjoying this food and the Chicken flavor for years. The can has changed but most importantly the food itself has changed. My cats won't eat it at all. Now I have to start all over trying to find something they like. I don't understand the need to change the recipe, this is so disappointing.

Cat says this is no longer edible

The Merrick turkey pate had been our cat's go-to for several years. However, over the past year, most lots that we've purchased have been rejected by our cat. She "buries" it as soon as it hits the dish. We had originally attributed the apparent formula change to supply chain issues during the pandemic. Now, we are forced to view it as cost-cutting by the manufacturer. We wonder if it is only a coincidence that the Merrick company founder passed away in 2022. Not Chewy's fault, but we are forced to experiment to find a quality replacement for this item. Sadly, we can't recommend it anymore.

My picky cat used to love this, now won't touch it!

My picky guy used to LOVE the Turkey Merrick canned food, now he won't touch it. I can't blame him, though, it used to be firm pate, but now it's highly-liquid, smelly mush.

STOP FEEDING THIS FOOD!

The quality/manufacturing of this food has completely changed. It is dry, spongey, smells strange and is sticky in texture. It made one of my cats ill. He started drooling excessively, watery eyes and had green/yellow soft stool a couple hours after eating this flavor. I haven't had an issue feeding the Beef, Salmon or Chicken flavors but the Tuna is also a cause of concern. It had large bone fragments in it and cooked bone can splinter. That's a big no no for pets. If the company, Merrick (who I once trusted) is switching up their formulas, it won't be long before the other batches are tainted too. Let's just hope this a formula change and not a horror story like other pet food manufactures getting away with putting things into our pets food that shouldn't be in there at all. That can really hurt our pets health. Please be very cautious of what you are feeding and do your research on these companies. Thanks

suddenly very dry pate

What happened to the gravy. Merrick Perfect Bistro Turkey Pate has always been a moist food yet the last case was so dry I had to add water. Is the way Chewy is storing the cases or is the problem because Merrick changed the ingredients or are the cans Chewy is sending close to the expiration date? My cat is throwing up so I am no longer ordering this can again.

turkey

Not enough liquid in this product. The beef and chicken were fine. In any event the cat ate it with no complaints.

Not sure?

I've recently lost 2 of my feline love bugs, for different health reasons! I mention this because the food arrived when I was running one to the vet which she had to be put down the week after the other. Chewy does know this yet. But for years been buying so many brands of cat food, Momma Misty is my oldest at 15 and diagnosed IBS and other things, suppose to be in single sourced protein or hydrolyzed for she has diarrhea almost every other day, this food may be causing gas, I never knew my kitty could fart? Never smelt her before! Also she is running and can't make it in time to the box! I don't want to blame this food for I added a new dry just a little mixed into what she eats. I gotta stop somewhere and figure all this food madness out, but how? I'm too stressed by myself losing your friends one after another is so challenging. She will eat tiny bites mostly wastes the little I give 2xs a day. She's a little sweetheart! I don't want to cause her harm buying the wrong foods! I do read labels still don't understand all the new info that came to me about proteins in cats. I just want the best! She's my best friend and only companion! I am switching to prescriptions now the labels show horrible looking corn gluten, more corn than actual animal protein, if it will heal her gut, I want that!

What happened to the quality???

This used the be a trustworthy brand. The quality control is off the chain. Against my better judgement, I opened my latest shipment and found pate that was sticky, stiff and sponge like. Can was not damaged, so gave it to my cat. She ate it all and not five minutes later threw up for the first time since I’ve had her (two almost 3 years). Two cans were like that, so I imagine they all are. I’m so worried. Merrick should be ashamed, sounds like others are experiencing the same. I’m hoping Chewy does the right thing, awaiting their response.

What happened to the quality?

Like others have wrote, the texture of the last batched I received was awful. Stiff and sticky. My cat would not eat it. I thought it was because the cans were near the air conditioner but now reading some of the reviews, I am not the only one experiencing the same issues. Hope Merrick sorts out the issue otherwise I will be looking for another brand.
