So far so good
We installed this gate last week to keep two kittens out of a room. They're still small enough to fit through the spaces between the bars, so we used a pool noodle cut in half and some paper to block the bottom third. They might eventually get bold/strong enough to jump over the gate, but for now it's working as intended. It was easy to install and seem sturdy; it's also easy to prop open when the kittens are elsewhere.
did not last against corgi puppy
installed this gate to contain my 9week old 5lbs corgi puppy while my partner and i are gone between shifts, only lasted about two weeks before he busted it off of the wall. i am not only amazed that he was even capable of such a thing but more importantly disappointed by the quality of this gate. will be requesting my money back as i had anticipated using throughout my dogs life.
Great gate - beware of the wrong height extensions
I really like this gate. It is well made and attractive. But beware if you need an extension to make it wider. The extensions link on the gate page takes you to extensions that are taller than the gate! I didn't realize that, so when the extension came it was taller than the gate. Luckily we were able to cut it down and make it work, but the correct extensions should really be listed. Check your sizes before ordering!
Perfect for my doggie hotel
I have a part time doggie care business. My small condo has been turned into a doggie hotel. This helps me manage feedings etc - I can easily separate dogs
Measure before purchasing!
Gate is fine, but opening should be at least 30 inches. Mine was 29.5 exactly and I could not use mounting cups for security because it was too tight a fit. Tension seem to be holding it ok, though.
Best gate I’ve ever had!
I was so surprised how high quality this gate was! It’s very sturdy, tall and heavy. Also it looks amazing and sleek. The handle mechanism is great for adults, although my 4 year old struggles a bit with it. Which can be a good or bad thing depending on what you need this for. The only thing is I thought it was going to be jet black, and it’s actually a very dark grey. Doesn’t bother me though, still love this gate.
Midwest Pet Gate
I am pleased with the look of this unit, but I am not completely happy with the strength. I had to order the extension section to accommodate the opening that we needed for this gate. There was too much 'play' between the joints allowing the gate and extensions to be pushed out or in.
Longest lasting Gate I ever Owned!
I have owned this for over four years now. Very very sturdy! Classy design. Can put together easily. Came with tightening tool, which I kept over the years to keep it snug at all times. I only have to get a new one because of a certain adult child in my household, who came at it too rough. I know it would have lasted much longer, especially if you take care of it, and use it properly. Buying another one now, with adult house rules!
Good for a Year
We bought this gate about 14 months ago. It spans the entryway from our living room to the garage so it's a fairly high traffic area. I like the height, I don't have to reach down to open it. It is a little harder to open than other gates because you have to lift it where the locking mechanism is and then push or pull. Something on the hinge must have broken recently though because when we attempt to lift the entire door comes off. Now we just leave it propped open a crack.
Nice little gate
It works beautiful. the door swings both directions. If you don't want it to swing, you can push the stopper down and it will only swing one way. The only problem is that this gate isn't very tall. If you have JRTs, they can jump over it. The beauty of this gate is that my 4 year old granddaughter can open it. It works well for us.
