Keeps Away The Blackbirds

I got thos upside down suet feeder to keep away the Starlings & Grackles as they were decimating my suet blocks. They'd demolish a new block in literal minutes

I got thos upside down suet feeder to keep away the Starlings & Grackles as they were decimating my suet blocks. They'd demolish a new block in literal minutes. Well, the blackbirds mostly wont hang upside down to eat. But the woodpeckers,Nuthatches, etc will. This has worked like a charm. An occasional Starling or Grackle will figure it out but they dont stay on long. The feeder is decent quality, this is my 2nd one (raccoons pulled the lid off the old one & broke it). Overall, this is a solid little suet feeder that holds most blocks. I haven't had any not fit. Easy to clean and the woodpeckers love it.

This is great!

Squirrels just can't figure it out! Feeders went up early so the birds knew where to come for the winter. Nice feeder.

The fact that "nuisance birds" would find it difficult to use.

I had Starlings eating all the suet from my old suet feeder and it was driving me nuts. So I tried this feeder - for a while a few Starlings would try to get some

I had Starlings eating all the suet from my old suet feeder and it was driving me nuts. So I tried this feeder - for a while a few Starlings would try to get some suet, but it was a tough job and they couldn't get much. So now the Starlings are gone, and the woodpeckers can eat as much as they want. I love it!

Works as intended

This feeder has worked exactly as intended! My downy woodpecker and some other small birds use it, and the grackles, catbirds, thrashers, etc. don’t. I’ve not yet

perfect for my deck

Many different bird species enjoy eating out of this feeder. It fits nicely handing above the railing on my deck and doesn't take up a lot of room.

Hanging birds

I give a rating of 3 because it was broken when received due to poor packing. I kept it because it was easy to repair but would not have been necessary if securely

Never had a bird visit

Thought this would keep the starlings and grackles from eating my suet cakes. Well, it did but none of the woodpeckers, flickers, etc, would use it either.

Still some problems.

This works great for our woodpeckers, tufted titmouses, chickadees, and other clinging birds. However, it didn't take long for the starlings to figure out how to hang on to eat and they were the problem that we bought this to prevent. Not all of them can cling long enough to eat, but enough to be a nuisance for the other ones. It does prevent them from divebombing the smaller birds like they did with the pole suet feeder.

Squirrels love it

I thought this was a great idea to keep the squirrels away so they would stopp stealing my suet cakes. Nope, they chew thru the wood and the bottom gets unhinged

I thought this was a great idea to keep the squirrels away so they would stopp stealing my suet cakes. Nope, they chew thru the wood and the bottom gets unhinged & they steal the suet. As you can see, I got a few extra weeks out of it with duct tape, 20 nails & a bungee cord. Any day they will get to it & I will have to throw it away. I can’t afford a suet holder and the suet every month for the squirrels. The woodpeckers love it! If only there was suet left in the holder for them to eat. I have no idea what kind to get now. This is my 4th type of feeder I’ve tried. IF the maker of this was to read this review, if they used stronger wood other than the soft cedar, maybe it would take longer for the squirrels to chew thru it.
