Theresa has not liked any of the prescription food from the vet for her IBD. I did some research on novel proteins foods and tried various venison and rabbit foods. When I tried Meow freeze dried venison cat bites by The New Zealand Pet Food Company, she loved it! I had some questions for the company and they answered my email quickly. We are on the right track. (Note that the air died version is very different and hard to chew so we stay away from it.)

Poor Josie has skin allergy issues. She is on year around flea meds despite living indoors only and still has issues so our vet wants her on Venison food only. As a result our other cat has to be on venison food as well. I tried to serve this food in a variety of ways, mixed in water, (warm, room temp and cold with various moisture levels) dry whole, dry as a topper on wet food or strait out of the bag. They won’t eat it. So the search continues! From the reviews lots of cats seem to enjoy it, and the ingredients look great! I guess mine are just extra picky.

These food has excellent ingredients for a cat. My kittens ate it without a hesitation. Just keep in mind that some cats are picky and they need to have different food often, mine are like that. I rotate their food and it works for them. Keep in mind that some pellets are big, just make them smaller, the food is soft. Better if you cats like them with some bone broth to provide more hydration.

I have a kitty with IBD, allergies to lots of food. She’s been on the expensive limited ingredient dry food by Royal Canin, but they dropped the venison option after Covid. I tried this as an alternate, but my kitty needed more frequent trips to the vet for steroid shots. Turns out she can’t have lamb either. My kitty LOVES this, and it otherwise would work so I won’t knock down my rating, but it would be really nice to have a product that has solely venison without any other protein in it.
