Can I flush this?

According to Okocat, "This litter is 100% biodegradable, like other flushable litters; however, we decided to remove “flushable" from okocat packaging due to ongoing concerns about the environmental impact, especially on water quality by introducing harmful pathogens. The United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) states that pet waste can harm fish, wildlife, native vegetation and water quality. Cat feces can also contain toxoplasma, an illness-causing parasite that can be passed to humans. A growing number of marine mammals have been diagnosed with toxoplasmosis, which is believed to have survived the sewage treatment process, allowing cat litter flushed down the toilet to sweep the parasite out to sea. In fact, some state governments, including Rhode Island, prohibit pet owners from flushing pet waste. If you do choose to flush it, we do not recommend flushing if you are on a septic system or in water-saving low volume toilets. According to CA Law AB 2485, encouraging your cat to use an indoor litter box, or properly disposing of outdoor cat feces, is beneficial to overall water quality. California asks that you do not flush cat litter in toilets or dispose of it in gutters or storm drains."

It is only recommended to use a manual type of litter machine, not automatic, as the formed clumps should sit for 1-2 hours before sifting for best results.

Does the job well... but so does the Original

My two cats share the main litterbox, and after trying out the Original version of Okocat, I thought of giving the Multi-Cat version a try. There wasn't anything wrong with the Original; I was more intrigued by what the Multi-Cat version offers, which is better odor control. Honestly though, the odor control doesn't seem any better than the Original, which was already doing well. Same size of granules, same light wood scent, same amount of dustiness (which isn't much compared to Catalyst or Okocat Super-Soft), same clumping power... I could switch it out for the Original and not notice any difference. There's only so much odor you can control when one of your cats insists on not covering their poop. I'm not wholly disappointed - this is a good wood clumping litter - but I might as well save money and get the Original instead for the same results.

Great price! Clumps well!

I get 50% more for the same price on this product ordering from Chewy vs buying locally. It smells nice, not nearly as dusty as the clay cat litter i was using

I get 50% more for the same price on this product ordering from Chewy vs buying locally. It smells nice, not nearly as dusty as the clay cat litter i was using (Dr Elseys) - I developed an allergy to the silica dust. Transitioning the cats to this litter has been easy too, they readily accepted it over a 2 week transition. It also clumps well, just give it 20min or so.

Good Alternative to clay litter

I have four cats and I guess they don’t like change. I put it in one small litter box and they avoided it. I then decided to add a little new litter to the old

I have four cats and I guess they don’t like change. I put it in one small litter box and they avoided it. I then decided to add a little new litter to the old litter each time to transition them over the course of a few litter box changes. They seemed to do better that way. They didn’t mind it as much. Dust free so doesn’t blow up in your face when you pour it. Doesn’t have a perfume scent. Smells more like a hint of wood chips. Absorbs well for the urine. For us, it was average, but would use only if I was looking for alternative to clay clumping litter.

Too much tracking

Unlike the other litter (WB), this one doesn’t turn to powder after a few uses. However, the granules are quite large, so it tracks everywhere and doesn’t pass through

Unlike the other litter (WB), this one doesn’t turn to powder after a few uses. However, the granules are quite large, so it tracks everywhere and doesn’t pass through the sifter easily. Odor control is decent and has a pine scent. Clumping is acceptable, but not as effective as the other litter. I have fully transitioned my cat to this litter, but I plan to switch back until I can find a better option with less tracking and less powder buildup after a week of use.

I don’t think they could have chosen a better two-cat household to test this product. I’ve tried so many litters over the years, and I’ve currently been mixing Pretty Litter and Skoon just to get by. But I think I’ve finally found the solution — and I didn’t even check the price first because it works that well. I have two litter boxes. One of my cats uses both, and the other prefers just one. I put this litter in Lucy’s box so she’d still have another option if she didn’t like it, but she adjusted immediately. I added a thin layer of Skoon at first just to ease the transition. Here’s what impressed me: 1. Absolutely zero dust. I keep this box between my kitchen and library, so that matters a lot. It truly stays dust-free. 2. No odors. I changed both boxes at the same time, and the other brand already had a noticeable smell while this one simply smelled like clean wood. Most litters can handle solid waste, but the urine smell is what usually becomes noticeable — and this handled that without any issue. 3. Natural material without drawbacks. I was skeptical about a wood-based litter, but I actually prefer it now. It even clumps urine well, which was a pleasant surprise. This is a large bag and I didn’t even use half of it. I’m genuinely excited to switch both boxes over. One of them is in my bathroom near my bed, so I’m thrilled at the idea of not having to deal with odors at night. I’m really grateful for the chance to try this because I don’t think I would have discovered it otherwise. Thank you, Chewy — I absolutely recommend it!

I like the recycled bag and it has handles. The price is comparable with similar brands. I’ve been using World’s Best unscented. I added OkoCat with WB for easy transition. One of my 2 cats has used it literally just once. My sensitive cat walked in and right back out. It’s been several days and they won’t use it. PROS It doesn’t have a strong woodsy smell. Practically NO dust. Now I can’t say if it stays that way as it gets used regularly. Good price Clumps urine well CONS Very sharp pieces. I think this is why my cats don’t like it. Cats usually prefer fine, sandy type litter.

I like using a natural kitty litter. However, the kitty litter I used before always ended up with sawdust all over the floor and anywhere my cat, TNT, walked after getting out of her box. Okocat litter clumps nicely and does not stick to TNT's paws. I like that it doesn't have a smell like some old ladies' perfume as many of them do. The litter itself has no real smell but at the same time keeps the smell of cat urine contained. Definitely easy to use and biodegrades quickly. I also really like the handles; they are strong and make transport much easier than the normal ungainly bags of most kitty Litters

This litter works very nicely for our multi-cat household. Natural, no chemicals.... that's important to us. We tried the "soft" version first, but found it had significant levels of dust to the point that some of our kitties were sneezing... not good. But this version has essentially no dust. It controls odor well, and is reasonably priced for an upscale litter.

We have two cats and have been using Okocat Mini Pellets Unscented Clumping Wood Cat Litter for the last five years or so. We are happy with the product, so we knew we would be happy with this one as well. This litter is lightweight and has even smaller pieces compared to the mini pellets version. We like the smaller pieces better because unclumped pieces fall through the litter scoop easily. The litter clumps well and the clumps don't fall apart when being picked up. We like the fact it is dust-free and free from harmful chemicals. It absorbs odor pretty well.
