Not a stable/strong enough toy for cats.
I thought this would be an amazing toy for my 5 young cats. One of the cats were playing with it and the string literally snapped when he went to jump for it. I repaired it by tying it back together and it snapped again in a different spot and snapped off the piece that goes on the door. I then took it off of the door and cut off the string for the cats to play with the mouse itself and they easily ripped it open not even an hour later. Also, the squeaky sound (which was the cats favorite part about the toy) would only work when it wanted to.. which was very unfortunate. Definitely not happy with this.
Doesn't hold up
I put this over the door of my coat closet and Lou set to playing with it. He immediately ripped the mouse off, tearing the string part way down. I tied it back together and within an hour it was ripped again. I gave up and let him have the mouse with a long string attached. It's been about a month and I finally need to get rid of it, the mouse itself has become his favorite toy and he carries it everywhere, but now it's totally falling apart.
Cats loved it a bit too hard
My cats loved this toy but unfortunately it broke just a few days after getting it. The stick snapped from the door connecter bit and I wasn't able to glue it back together. BUT they still do enjoy playing with the squeaking mouse that now lives on the floor. I just wish the product was a bit more sturdy.
Obsessed with it
Loki can't get enough of it... From the moment I took it out of the box my furbaby wasn't giving me a chance to assemble it. It entertains him for a long time. The only downside is pretty much what everybody has started, the string is TOO SHORT !! I have no clue how the maker of this "Door Toy" thinks that the string is long enough. It's an easy fix, I just added more string. I would definitely recommend this to a friend.
My cat loves it
I think this toy gets a bad rap from a few of the reviewers. I have fairly tall doors so it is indeed quite a bit off the ground, like others have said. But to introduce my cat to it I pulled a footstool close to it so she could bat it around. Now I hear her playing with it frequently, and without the stool. She runs past and jumps in the air and bats it around. My ten-year-old cat doesn't have much interest, but my two-year-old loves it. With two fairly large dogs that tear up toys, I love the cat toys that hang from door knobs and doors. My dogs don't have any interest in those.
The cats snapped the toy off the door within the first hour of installing it. The mouse noise stopped as soon as they ripped the toy open and pulled all the stuffing out. I must have some wild strong kitties or toys are not made as durable
Best Toy Ever
This is by far my cat's favorite toy. I have bought 2 of them. He plays with them all the time, so much so that I have to keep putting back on the door. I highly recommend this toy for your active kitten.
Didnt last long but its his favorite toy now
Our kitten destroyed it in less than 3 days of almost non stop play so we definitely got our monies worth. Hes now standing at the door it was on yelling because he can't play with it until the new ones come.
We bought two of these and neither lasted longer than an hour. The first one was broken when we accidentally shut the door too hard, the second our cat pulled too hard and yanked it off.
My kitty and I both had our ears perk up when we heard the squeak this little mouse makes. The string is long, but not too long, just enough for him to stand on his tippy-toe-beans to bat at this little critter.
