I have a turtle and his tank just gets too dirty . Will this help with that ?
Answer by ChewyJan 30, 2020
Keep your turtle’s swimming water filtered by using a canister filter or power filter. The more powerful the filter, the better for your turtles, unless they seem to be fighting the current. This filter uses mechanical, chemical and biological filtration for crystal clear water and it would be perfect for your turtle tank.

Do you need under gravel filter or other filters when using the penn-plax? Do i.need power heads or anything else?? Can you use the 100 gallon one on a 55. I am setting up for ciclids
Answer by ChewyNov 02, 2017
A power head does not need to be used and this filter will cater to many needs but you can add an extra filter if you would like. Also, you can use the 100 gallon for a 55 gallon tank.

I like to turn all filters off while feeding will I need to prime them when restarted?
Answer by ChewySep 01, 2018
If the flow control valves are shut off before the power and the canister is not opened, then there should not be a need to prime the unit again.

How long are the input and output tubes?
Answer by ChewyMar 28, 2018
The input and output tubes outer diameter is 7/8 inches while the inner diameter is 5/8 inches. The tubes measure approximately 6 feet long.

definitely worth buying

Honestly I’d say it’s worth buying but only when they do the half off sale tbh but I wish it came with better instructions so I would recommend to watch a ton of different tutorials before you set it up and i didn’t know that you had to put the outtake fully submerged into the water, would’ve been helpful if it came in the instructions honestly or maybe it’s just mine that was being weird but it doesn’t make a lot of noise just a humming noise I guess. I personally prefer it over a waterfall noise. Also it can get super messy setting it up so make sure to have a lot of rags with you and use garden scissors to cut the hoses for a clean cut. Also buy bio media before setting it up because it doesn’t come with

Takes a little persistence...

This filter does an amazing job. But getting it to actually prime was a major effort. Don't give up! My filter is for a red eared slider and they are notoriously dirty. Because the water level is not to the top, the sound of the outflow water hitting the tank water is extremely loud. I'm still working on that. But very happy that this works so well.

Easy and efficient

This was my second purchase of this product. I originally purchased the smaller version and could not pass this up when I saw the price. So far I am very happy with my upgrade.

Nice filter

Nice price and quite, moves the water at 200 gph. Use for both of our 75 gallon turtle tanks. Happy so far

Great small canister filter

I bought this filter to use as a gravel washing filter for my freshwater tank. It is extremely well made and works like a charm. I've read other reviews that complained about difficulty priming the unit but I usually fill it with tank water before starting and have not had any problem even thou I only use it to gravel wash. However the unit is so well made and reliable, I would have used it as my primary filter if I was at all unhappy with my Seachem hang on back filter. I highly recommend this filter for tanks in the 20-30 gallon size.

It works great so far.

It was easy to put together but it is tall it was almost 12 inches high plus the hoses at least the hoses can move around it almost did not work for me I built the stand many years ago for my 55gal tank and it barely worked. I had other tank filters under it.

Penn plax cascade filter

Having more than one aquarium and aquariums for many years I'm not a fan of this filter. Added media to the top 2 trays, set up correctly but does not keep aquarium clean and clear. My other tanks are perfect with no issues. Always over compensate filter size as well. Been almost a month running getting ready to change filters. Not impressed don't waste the time.
