How much noise does the launcher make?

Answer by ChewyOct 20, 2025
The launcher makes a slight clicking sound when the ball launches.

How far does it shoot the balls when fired?

Answer by ChewyOct 14, 2025
The distance the ball launches can vary and is based on how deep the ball is placed in the launcher and how hard the trigger is pulled. The maximum distance is around 30 to 40 feet.

Fun for both pet and owner, my cat goes chasing the balls that are launched. With a cool and fun design for interactive play time, just gently but firmly pull back the firing pin until it locks into place with a click, load in a ball, aim, then pull the trigger. Can go clear across the room with its spring mechanic. With six balls of every five colors, it makes it easy to keep track for cleaning up afterwards after a good play session. If color of the toy doesn't matter, I recommend getting this ball launcher with a variety pack paired with it. While first playing with it while trying to figure out how it works, I thought that it'll be cool to see a ball launcher shaped like a party popper too.

Cat is Terrified of it

I thought this would be a big hit! I saw other reviews that said their cats were scared of the toy, but mine have played with similar guns that shoot nerf darts (and I thought the soft pom poms would be less of an oof if they ricocheted and bounced off of kitty). Something about the sound that this one makes terrifies my cat and he hides when I get it out. I tried to slowly condition him to it but he is not having it. He does love the pom poms though (he's always been a big fan of those), and is happy to play with and chase those if you toss them across the room by hand.

So Much Fun!!!

Taco Cat is so happy chasing 30 puffballs around and I have so much fun popping the puffballs out of the plastic toy!!! It's a great time for both of us!!! Machete Kitty is a little put off by the little noise the toy makes when the spring loaded launcher pops the little puffballs into the air but it isn't a noisy toy... Machete is older and is easily annoyed by young and boisterous Taco so that is definitely a factor. He has other favorite toys and games but will still participate in chasing puffballs if I toss them by hand. We all highly recommend this toy and will be purchasing it again and filling the entire house with joyful puffballs!!!

Loud & hard to track

Dandy loves a ball, and every ball launcher on the market. I’ve tried them all, he’s loved them all. Not this one. This one is loud, and shoots the ball so fast that he can’t follow it. Not that it matters, he’s usually too distracted by the sound to try to track it. He’ll play with the plush balls all day, once he finds one, but the launcher is a gimmick that seems to be more for the entertainment of the human. My cat doesn't startle easy, he’s very confident and incredibly playful, but this isn’t it. More suitable for a child, than a cat. Save your money & just buy the balls.

The little popping sound the plastic gun makes when it shoots out the pompom ball startles one of our cats a little bit but she adjusts after a while. She doesn't seem to like the ball being launched this way though. She only likes to play with the pompom balls once they've landed and aren't moving anymore. Our other cat gets into a lot more and occasionally will fetch the pompoms back so we cat shoot them again. The toy works well and the pompoms are not able to hurt the cats but can scare them a bit when shot out if your cats tend to be anxious or fearful. Good luck keeping track of all the pompom balls though. I know when we move the couch, there will be a treasure trove of pompoms under it.

Our Maurice loves this toy so much that he learned to play fetch, bringing the balls back to keep the fun going! He hears the clicking sound of the "gun" and comes running. The only downside is he likes this toy too much! If one of the balls goes under the fridge or a doorway he will yowl and we have had to keep the extra balls in a Tupperware container so they aren't scattered all over our house. Now he knocks the Tupperware container out of his toy box to make a point he has lost another one and for us to quickly fix the problem. The balls are the perfect size for him to carry around in his mouth, unlike other ones we have bought him in the past. Maurice endorses this product. Our Christmas tree does not.

The pompoms were a huge hit. Buttercup was scared by the sharp noise made by the launcher. She ran from the room. She played with the pompoms when the launcher was not being used. Viola did not like the speed of the launcher. She preferred playing with the pompoms when they were tossed. I gave the launcher and half of the pompoms to a friend with cats. We shall see what her younger cats think about it.

Fun idea, but the ball shooter doesn’t really work. First and foremost it makes a horrible noise that scares the cat. Second, the amount of time it takes to load and launch a single ball all of 8 feet means that you could just be under hand, throwing the balls, rapid fire without noise or fuss infinitely quicker than what this thing can do. A different version of this could be great, but right now it’s a miss.

My cat is scared of this. The ball gun is so loud. She likes the balls though. Tried the gun a few times and she just runs away and hides. So I leave balls on the floor with her toys and at least she uses those. If you have a more skiddish kitty, I do not recommend. It’s honestly shocking this is a cat toy gun with how loud it is.

This gets the lazy cat off the couch

All three of my cats, 16 yo, 11 yo and 2 yo love this game. The balls are bouncy enough and fly really well. The lauching gun is easy to use or I just toss them

All three of my cats, 16 yo, 11 yo and 2 yo love this game. The balls are bouncy enough and fly really well. The lauching gun is easy to use or I just toss them. The only draw back is for some reason the balls end up under the refrigerator every morning.......read Midnight Madness. Even one of my fosters played with it so much he wore himself out.....that's saying a lot for a 1 yo male.
