Excellent carrier
I absolutely love that this carrier has 2 openings to it since most of my cats hate getting in these. The top opening works really well to put them in it when heading to the vet or such . This was my 3rd carrier in this line to buy. I also love that it has a moat around where they sit on the inside in case one urinates in it then they're not sitting in it like older carriers.
Inaccurate dimensions listed in description
The dimensions listed for the size small carrier are: 19.4" x 12.8" x 10" with a weight capacity of 10lbs. This is a little bigger than the soft sided carrier I use for my 12lb cat, so I thought it would be perfect for my new kitten to grow into. HOWEVER, that measurement includes the 1" border that surrounds the outside of the carrier, and every surface inside the carrier is rounded and tapered. Meaning, the small size is TINY, and in no universe could it hold a 10lb cat, as demonstrated by Fitz in my pictures who is exactly 10lb. The actual, internal, functional measurements of this carrier are: Length 15" x Width 8" x Height 10" (I didn't buy this for my adult cats, they were just the gracious models. The carrier was meant for a new 6 week old kitten. I could see immediately that he would outgrow it in no time).
A better carrier
My partner bought three of these for his cats. I was impressed with the ease of loading a prickly cat through the top, when I took one to the vet. It was sturdier than my carriers. I haven't assembled mine yet, but my partner said it was easy, only took a few minutes. If the current stray moves in, I'll be getting another. We chose the medium to give more space gor cats to move around on a long trip. The only quibble I had is that the box is tapered so the floor and roof are smaller than the "waist". I prefer a more square shape to get maximum floor space for the space it takes up in the car.
oops in handle design
i reinforced the handle with 2 shoestrings, poor handle stress point design, otherwise a fine carrier i don't want to bother with a return.....ok
Solid
I don't worry about the top coming off of this one because it feels well made and the bolts stay tight. Mine came with two extra nuts and bolts, which was nice. Both doors open easily, and my cat tolerates the top door reasonably well.
Petmate 24" Carrier
Our car was recently totaled during a collision with a large deer. We had 7 foster kitties with us. Airbags deployed and once we got ourselves and the animals back home I noticed the damage to the carrier in direct line with the one air bag. We may have lost our car but this carrier protected our blind foster cat Early. I am grateful for such a sturdy carrier.
Front door is a little difficult to open and close
I like this kennel, but the front door is difficult to open and close. It seems to stick and I need to wiggle it a little bit to get it closed and opened, which makes it difficult with the water dish on the front and spilling it. Otherwise, I love the top door to get our puppy out.
Sturdy, durable, great for 2 rabbits
My two bunnies fit perfectly in here, each ~ 6lb. The top opening makes it very easy to take out one at a time (ex. at the vet) and the front opening is nice to let them get out without being picked up again
Top door doesn’t stay open
I purchased this carrier specifically because it had a top load feature. Unfortunately, the top door does not stay open. The door only flips open and falls shut when you let go of it making it difficult to manage with one person if your cat is not a fan of being in a carrier. Unfortunately I didn’t try it out before our first vet appointment. I ended up having to reschedule. The carrier is fine if you have a second person or you don’t need the top load feature. Unfortunately it doesn’t work for us. I’m going to have to figure out what to do with it and how to get Maggie cat to the vet
Cute, Prectical, Roomy
Easy to put together, in 5 min tops. Cute. Beautiful. Like the two openings. Easy to use. Two small pups can fit. Roomy inside. Lightweight. Easy to carry, even with two pups
