Can this crate be secured in a car with a seat belt?

At this time the manufacturer does not produce accessories to secure the kennel in a car.

My large cat is strong and has pushed his way through carrier zippers. How secure is the top panel? How is it fastened? Thank you.

The top of this kennel is securely locked with spring-loaded latches. Steel wire and plastic construction combine to create a sturdy carrier.

What are the interior dimensions? I'm trying to see if my carrier mat/pad will fit properly before I buy a new one.

Misdrilled holes, extra parts, unclear instructions (though the assembly process is pretty intuitive). As other reviewers have noted, the top-loading hatch, which on first blush would be a strong selling-point, is serious a problem because it doesn't stay open on its own. That kind of defeats the purpose of convenience. But what's actually worse is the entire top hatch - on which the kennel's carrying-handle is connected - is only held closed by the two thin metal rods which are used to secure the top hatch to the kennel. Simply put: if you don't make sure that the top hatch is properly latched after you load your pet and pick up the kennel, you risk the top hatch opening unexpectedly, which may cause you to drop the kennel and/or your pet. And if those thin latches break, or the plastic into which they fit breaks, then this kennel becomes functionally useless. I don't know if these design problems are inherent to just this kennel model or the entire Petmate line, but I would avoid and select something much sturdier.

Doors will not stay open!

I have one used this a few times but am going to give it away. Neither the top nor front door will stay open at all, it’s almost as though they’re spring-loaded. It

I have one used this a few times but am going to give it away. Neither the top nor front door will stay open at all, it’s almost as though they’re spring-loaded. It makes it much more difficult to get the cat inside and generally you need someone to hold it open. A quality 2-door cat carrier should have doors that will fully rotate outward so that they stay open. These don’t quite rotate 90 degrees so they are designed to immediately close if you don’t hold it. I’m honestly not sure how other people deal with it. Most definitely a deal-breaker for me.

It's held together with screws (rather than clips, like my last kennel) and he has quite a lot more room in it than his last. Very pleased, happy with my purchase and Chewy's service!

I bought 2 of the same crate for my cats. I saw there were some reviews mentioning that the crate door doesn't fit when trying to install it, but I am so glad I got these. They were a great deal because it was on sale, and the everything fit together fine. There are two holes adjacent to where the door goes that can be misleading because you think that is where the prongs fit. If you tried to put the door prongs in those holes it wont fit, but that's NOT where it goes. Everything did assemble together perfectly for me, no problem. Crate worked great. The side door does close a little on it's own when left open, and I find the top door does stay open when I open it while I am getting my cat in or out of the crate through the top. Keep in mind it is rated only for up to 15 lbs. I have a cat who is a big boy, and the carrier doesn't quite feel sturdy enough for him, I have a different carrier for him. Love it for my smaller cats.

Chewy rep was SO knowledgeable and answered ALL of my questions easily, even had personal experience with this particular case so could shed light on what some of the negative reviews were really referencing. She was also kind and so patient about my concerns. And she helped me gather promos/ coupons available, making it possible to cover all 6 of my outside colony. . SO appreciate her. Cases are roomy enough for 2 kittens if I ever have to double up in an evacuation. And certainly cofy fir one. Cases seem sturdy. Glad to have them!

I bought 2 of the 19 inch. 2 of my 3 cats are on the smaller side perfect for them. Being able to put them in from the top is the main reason I bought them. But

But as you can see in the picture Willow will need the 24 inch she's 12 lbs and very long. But she seems to have taken up residence and loving it. They seem very sturdy and were easy to assemble.
