I got this, thinking oh its going to work. I had the big dog drinkwell before and it was the EASIEST fountain to clean and fill. I miss it. This one, you have to plug the wall plug into an outlet and then connect the cord. It has were you have to tighten it and it didn't work well. Luckily Chewy is great with returns and I'm waiting on the replacement and then maybe that will be better. It twisted that untwisting it didn't help.#ChewyTeamRated
I've used the giant 450oz outdoor dog waterer from Drinkwell and it has worked very well indoors for the 10lb Chesapeake and two plus-sized house cats. In 5 years I did replace the pump once. I have found that if it's running loudly it needs cleaning! I don't enjoy the monthly cleaning but after 5 years I don't cuss nearly as much snapping the housing back over the pump! Change the charcoal filter weekly and rinse out the white foam filter. Change white filter monthly. Seems to be a good routine. No regrets on this purchase!
I love that fact my babies gave running water. The only problem I have with this fountain is the way the 2 prong plug is! It is ridiculous hard to connect the plug in the prong! Why can't it be one piece to just plug into the wall? Whoever thought of this plug need to reconsider this and make it easier to connect! Just because of the difficulty I had with this plug when my fountain gives out I would not buy it again!
Bought this 4 months ago and now the pump is blown and cannot be replaced. Apparently this pump is no longer made. Do not purchase this product.
I'm super disappointed as we love Drinkwell products however the fountain has stopped working. I dont know if I'll buy anther due to the price and it not lasting very long. Otherwise it was a great product and my dogs love it.
The good: It's huge. In fact, it's almost too big for my three dogs. I usually need to clean it well before they drink more than half the water it holds. It's easy to fill. I love the huge reservoirs. Fill them. Flip them into the base. Done. The not so great: It's ridiculously loud. When it works. In fairness, I knew this from the reviews before I bought it, and I use it inside. So not really a surprise. But it is LOUD. Until it quits working.... The bad: - It's not particularly fun to clean. The size makes it hard to clean in the kitchen sink. I find the top portion of the housing hard to get off. I always feel like I am going to break off the tabs that hold the top part on. - It is particularly annoying that one cannot simply buy replacement foam filters for it. I already have a stash of the carbon filters that works with my other Drinkwell fountains, so having to shell out top dollar for more just to get one foam filter in a kit is a problem. Had I realized that before I bought it, I wouldn't have. - The pump doesn't hold its settings. I like the water to recirculate with a pretty good stream (that's why it's loud). But after cleaning and resetting it, it only holds the set flow for a few days. Then it starts winding down to a trickle. The period between resets and full flow went from weeks (didn't need to adjust flow after cleaning), to a few days, to a day, to...Dead. For the $109 (now $135!) plus tax I paid for this thing, I expect more than 10 months of usage. Now I have to consider replacing it or attempting to find a replacement pump. Disappointing at best. Right now it is just a big bucket of water. I could have had that for $10. Given the frequency that people report Drinkwell fountain pumps dying, I'd recommend staying away from $100+ fountains. You aren't going to get what you paid for.
Bought this in early May because our old fountain was not big enough to accommodate 3 dogs. The size is great and it was relatively quiet most of the time. The plug would get very hot though so we would unplug it on occasion. I unplugged it last week and when I plugged it back in, it never turned on. I am disappointed in the longevity
At first loved it. Was very powerful and flowing water. Then I cleaned it. And now it just hums. Water is trickling. Sounds like motor is going to quit anytime. Too expensive to keep replacing. Maybe bigger motor. And more sturdy
I bought this fountain for my back patio. The prior regular water bowl had mosquitos getting in it & that was nasty. Now that the water is moving I am not seeing those pesky mosquitos anymore. I am very pleased with this water fountain.
Ordered one that lasted for about a year, got it replaced and it too has made it about a year. I would not recommend or repurchase.
