So disappointed!
I had a PetSafe Drinkwell dog fountain that lasted over 10 years when it finally went kaput. I looked everywhere for the one I had, but all the newer versions have a much lower capacity so I went with this one. It has lasted a total of 5 1/2 months. I went with this brand because my previous one lasted so long. Now I am stuck looking again for a better option. I woke up one morning and the fountain was not running. I unplugged it and plugged it back in. Apparently the motor bit the dust in the middle of the night. It wasn't because it was out of water; one of the bottles was full and the other on half full. Maybe I just got a lemon, but now I've turned sour on PetSafe Drinkwell fountains.
Best Fountain Ever
Love this fountain, the water stays clean and my dog loves it. Simple to install and use. I keep it inside.
Don't buy this
This is the worst product i have purchased from Chewy. In the first week the pump was reduced to a trickle even after changing and cleaning the filters. My dogs won't drink from it. They go to my old fountains. It must be the plastic.
Huge capacity sturdy build handy refill but noisy
We have thrown away so many water fountains - branded or not. We have 3 cats, plus a medium and small dog. All indoors. The fountains clog, they're too small, the motor goes out. So we went with the sturdy design. The removable water tanks are very handy for refilling (they last us a week). Since we're using it indoors the noise is a bit of a problem. I might see about adding sound insulation underneath - in the meantime I put a smart plug on there, and we turn off the motor on schedule or voice command. It moves a serious volume of water so we feel that if we run at least 50% of the time we're fine.
Not worth the money
I have four dogs three of the GSD's. I was tired of filling the water bowls so I bought this and was very happy with it the first few weeks. This things is difficult to clean and almost impossible to line up the inside pump. I hate the fact the water flow is sooooo slow. Way too much trouble to clean and put back together. The postive is the dogs have not run out of water since I got it last Oct.
Would be better if it worked
The fountain worked for about a month, then slowed to a trickle, and now doesn’t work at all. It doesn’t filter or run at all. So, I essentially have a $175 water bowl.
Be very careful
I got this, thinking oh its going to work. I had the big dog drinkwell before and it was the EASIEST fountain to clean and fill. I miss it. This one, you have to plug the wall plug into an outlet and then connect the cord. It has were you have to tighten it and it didn't work well. Luckily Chewy is great with returns and I'm waiting on the replacement and then maybe that will be better. It twisted that untwisting it didn't help.#ChewyTeamRated
Suits my purpose well
I've used the giant 450oz outdoor dog waterer from Drinkwell and it has worked very well indoors for the 10lb Chesapeake and two plus-sized house cats. In 5 years I did replace the pump once. I have found that if it's running loudly it needs cleaning! I don't enjoy the monthly cleaning but after 5 years I don't cuss nearly as much snapping the housing back over the pump! Change the charcoal filter weekly and rinse out the white foam filter. Change white filter monthly. Seems to be a good routine. No regrets on this purchase!
Reason For Low Reviee
I love that fact my babies gave running water. The only problem I have with this fountain is the way the 2 prong plug is! It is ridiculous hard to connect the plug in the prong! Why can't it be one piece to just plug into the wall? Whoever thought of this plug need to reconsider this and make it easier to connect! Just because of the difficulty I had with this plug when my fountain gives out I would not buy it again!
disappointed
Just over a year ago bought this for my three dogs and it no longer circulates the water. I have replaced filters etc nothing helps. Looking for something that will last longer than 13 months
