is there an attachment such as a splitter so I could feed 2 cats at the same time?

This automatic feeder does not feature a splitter attachment for multi-pet homes. You would need multiple feeders.

Will this feeder send an alert through the app if it is unable to dispense the food or becomes jammed? For example if you are on vacation and not in the house can you verify that your pet receive their meal?

Their current app version does notify you in the event that the food has jammed. You'll also get notified when your pet is fed, the food level is low or the feeder is empty; feeds on schedule as programmed if Wi-Fi connection is lost or feeder is offline.

Can it run on batteries only? How long to the batteries last?

The Smart Feed is not meant to run on batteries alone. Batteries may be used as a backup in case of temporary loss of power, but batteries will not be sufficient as a regular form of power. At most, this will run for seven days on four D-Cell batteries.

In the last version, it seemed that it wouldn't work well without a wifi connection. Will this one still feed even if there is no internet connection?

The feeder will still dispense meals so long as they are already scheduled. If the WIFI should be down, you will only lose the "Feed Now" and ability to change the schedule for that time.

The concept is great, and when it works, it works well. However, getting this device to connect to Wi-Fi is incredibly frustrating-it’s nearly impossible. Even once connected, it frequently loses the connection, making it unreliable overall. For the price point, I expected much better performance. We connect countless devices to Wi-Fi without issue these days, so I’m not sure why this one is so problematic. Most concerning, my app currently shows the feeder is offline, yet it’s still dispensing food-yesterday, it showed the same thing and didn’t dispense anything. I’m disappointed that I can’t trust it to reliably feed my cat.

Beware of autofeed and other food distribution problems

I at first liked this auto feeder because of the large capacity for food storage. I couldn’t figure out why my dog was rapidly gaining weight and should have examined

I at first liked this auto feeder because of the large capacity for food storage. I couldn’t figure out why my dog was rapidly gaining weight and should have examined the feed log. I discovered my dog was auto feeding herself because of the poor placement of the autofeed button. I taped that up and put large weights on top to prevent access. Still, just jostling the auto feeder causes it to dispense food. I wish I had discovered the problem earlier. I saw in my app a few times that she had been fed when it wasn’t a scheduled feeding but I thought it was a software glitch not a design glitch of the feeder. I like my Petlibro auto feeder I use for my other dog much better and it has been 100% reliable. The only downside is a low food capacity. I would rather have reliable and I refill often than an overweight dog due to a faulty designed machine.

Easy set up

My cat and I both love this feeder. It was pretty easy to set up and changes are easy to make on the app. It's very entertaining to watch my cat bolt for the feeder

Worked great until just past the one year warranty

I was relying on this to feed my cat who needs a limited diet. Suddenly, there was a ton of food left in his bowl. I've been consulting with his vet and trying to

I was relying on this to feed my cat who needs a limited diet. Suddenly, there was a ton of food left in his bowl. I've been consulting with his vet and trying to to figure out why he's not eating. Extra trips to weigh him, etc. We figured out he isn't losing weight. After more digging, I found this feeder is sometimes getting "stuck" and dispensing many meals all at once. I checked, and we purchased 9/9/23, and it's now 9/28/24 so we are just past the one year warranty. I'm going to try a different brand. Too bad, I liked it until I couldn't trust it!

Buy the Portion Pro RX if it’s within your budget.

Unlike the Portion Pro RX, you have to wait for the conveyer belt to fill with kibbles as I understood it. I can’t cpmment because I chose the Portion Pro RX instead
