Works but line plastic is too soft and compressible

By Suzie on Dec 3, 2021

My kitty has end stage kidney disease. I give him SubQ fluids twice a day and have been for about six months. I used to get my supplies directly from my vet but when I switched vets, Chewy was the less expensive option. I thought one line set was pretty much the same as another. Not the case. :( The plastic in this version’s line gets totally squished by the roll stopper. When you roll to reopen it, it stays squished closed. It’s easy enough to squeeze the line so fluid starts flowing again but it’s just messier and less user friendly than whatever brand I got before (no idea but cost was similar.) So, this isn’t bad or unusable but I know they can work better than this from prior experience My kitty has end stage kidney disease. Soft plastic

    By MK1978 on Nov 27, 2021

They do get the job done, for subq fluids, but I am finding the plastic tubing to be very soft, so soft that after just a few uses the tubing wants to stay flat and restrict the flow. I move the rolling clamp and round out the compressed sections each time we use it as instructed. Now I realize these are supposed to be more like single use items but the vet has said as long as all important parts are kept sterile and the line is in good shape, we can keep using it- and we did so successfully with the last one (different brand) for two months. With this one that will NOT be possible, it has lasted for one bag of fluids (which get used 5 times before being empty) and probably not much longer. Confusing to first time users

By azak on Sep 20, 2021

Had to go to the vet to have them show me how to use this bag. If you're used to the traditional fluid bags it will be mysterious. Here's what the instructions should tell you. There are two ports with green caps. It doesn't matter which one you use. There is a little green knob on top of the green cap. Twist the little knob off of one of them (break it off). Insert the pointed end of the IV line into the soft plastic that was hidden underneath that knob. Attached is the picture that they should have included in the instructions. I'm sure the people that wrote the instructions knew what it meant but they didn't use enough words.

If only this DEHP-free product had no Y connection

By Judge on Oct 15, 2021

I ordered this IV tubing to administer subcutaneous fluid to my cat, and would have much preferred a tubing set without a Y-site, as purging air bubbles out of Y-sites is time-consuming and wasting much infusion solution. But I could not find a DEHP-free product that did not have a Y connection, so I am taking one star off, otherwise I would have given 5 stars.

    Molly Approved

By MollysMommy on Oct 6, 2021

So far I've gotten 4 tubes and so far they've all been pretty good! I change the tubing with each bag of fluid and all have lasted the whole bag. Flow seems good. I uncrimp the tubing where I've had the clamp, but I have yet to experience tubing where I don't need to do that. So far, so good! Helps Molly get her fluids easily and quickly :)

    Primary IV tubing set

By DoggieKittyMom on Nov 27, 2021

Great quality IV tubing. Nice length. After having been an RN for years, this tubing is the same quality that I used for years working in a hospital.

    Works Just Fine

By TDickson on Aug 18, 2021

I've been using this product everyday for 7-8 mos now. I know some have had issues, but for me it works. yes, you have to uncrimp the tube where you secured it closed before it will flow and yes if left to drip on it's own, it will be slow as it is designed to be. I take the bag and apply pressure to get a good steady flow, not drip, and I can give my cat 10ml of fluid with this tube in a few minutes. I use a new tube for every bag of fluid, so I have used many of these in 8 mos and all have been fine.
