Something Changed
I have fed our Golden Retriever this food for over a year now. He was doing SO well on it since having some tummy issues as a young puppy. Since we opened the new bag in the beginning of October, he has slowly refused to eat, became ill and experienced some weight loss. Something is very wrong with this new formula. A food he once loved he stiffs and walks away. My parents had a bag of this same food from June, and he ate every lick of it. Purina needs to know about this and do something. We even tried the chicken and rice formula PPP and he still refuses to eat it. He ate another brand no problem. I feel like I am echoing a lot of recent reviews on PPP food!
An absolute must for German Shepherd puppies
This food is absolutely the best food for German Shepherd puppies! I have 4 German Shepherd dogs and they’re notorious for sensitive skin and stomach issues I have tried numerous other brands each promising to be the best for this breed and none are perfect except for this one and chewy offers the best selection service and price
My dog loves it!
We switched to this from Hill's Science large breed puppy chicken flavor because our dog kept having bouts of diarrhea, even after taking away all other food treats and checking poop samples at the vet, which came out fine. Pretty sure she was having a reaction/sensitivity to chicken, but not totally sure. She ate this food up fast, now has normal poops, her coat looks shinier, and after a slow down in her puppy growth, she gained a few more pounds (which she needed to;)
FINALLY
After months of dissatisfaction and frustration my GSD is finally satisfied with this new food! She asks for more and her stool is perfecto! lol I was feeding her hills science diet large breed puppy chicken and barley. She hated it. Good old purina came through again and has been my go to food for years with many animals! I should of never strayed!
Good food
We previously used science diet but our 10 month old Aussie/pit mix would have occasional diarrhea & soft stool. After reading other reviews, we decided to give it a try. We changed him to this food & have had no issues since then. He’s been on it for about 3 weeks now. We think it stinks lol but he loves it!
Heavensent
2 Corsos and a Boerboel who eat this twice a day and I couldn't ask for anything better. My black brindle Corso and my Boerboel both have extremely sensitive stomachs. Those 2 have been on the large breed pup food for almost a year and couldn't ask for better results. No more loose stool, vomiting or grazing the yard like horses. My grey Corso is on Purina One Chicken and Rice and he does great as well.
Good food
I relied on my puppies breeder to advise 40 years in purebred dogs and career in Veterinary field. She says she does what works. I've fed other foods and cooked for sick dogs. Purina proplan salmon and rice works well. Large breed puppy sensitive stomach and skin. Gobbles it up happily.
Worst dog food EVER!
DO NOT FEED THIS TO YOUR DOGS! IT IS HORRIBLE! PLEASE READ! I have been feeding puppy purina pro plan chicken, and then lamb formula to my bernese mountain dog since we picked her up from the breeder. For the first few months, her poops were formed but very soft. We recently (and gradually) switched from the lamb version to this large breed salmon for sensitive stomachs. Since the switch, my berner has been having multiple bouts of diarrhea every time she has a bowel movement. She is normally very interested and excited about her food during meal times, but not for this version. It has progressed into her not even wanting to touch her food, and having to be encouraged to eat it. This morning, she left about half the food in the bowl and then vomited the purina back up twice after her breakfast. I am so discouraged with her food journey but more so extremely disappointed in the results with purina pro plan, ESPECIALLY with this salmon formula. Not to mention it’s not just GI issues, but there is a complete visible lack in quality of the food compared to the other versions of purina pro plan that we have tried. It is terrible and I will never feed it to her again or recommend it to anyone. We will be switching off of purina completely. If I could give this review 0 stars instead of 1, I would.
Great for their stomachs!
2 Lab puppies suffering from diarrhea and occasional vomiting for 2 months after using mother major brand. After numerous vet visits and testing, we switched to this in lieu of a RX food. In less than 24 hrs, the diarrhea was gone!

Our pup suffered from chronic diarrhea until we found this food. Bernese mountain dogs are known to have very sensitive stomaches and this was recommended by our vet as a possible solution. We are now going on two weeks of healthy bowel movements and we couldn’t be happier. Worked wonders for us!
