Questions & Answers

7 Customer Questions

Is this food a pate? How does it compare to A/D
Answer by ChewyNov 23, 2020
This recipe has a minced and smooth consistency. This formula has a higher protein, fat and fiber percentage than the Hill's Prescription Diet A/D food. This food has beef and liver listed as the first ingredients, while the A/D recipe has turkey liver, pork liver and chicken as their first ingredients.

Could you please say how many milligrams of Phosphorus are in one can? (I see your response that this product contains 0.34% Phosphorus on an as fed basis. But it would be sooo much easier for us to understand if you can just give an answer in mgs.) Thank you!!

There are 0.25 grams of phosphorus per 100 kcals of CN Critical Nutrition canned. Each can is 211 kcals, therefore there is 0.53 grams per can.

Great for my old cat

I had an 18 year old cat with hyperthyroid and a bad tooth. He had lost a lot of weight, could no longer eat dry food. The vet suggested the CN to help him recover. He has done well, gained weight and is eating at least a can per day. I am grateful. He looks and acts so much better.

Wouldn’t recommend this food only as a last resort

Unfortunately our dog passed away. This food was as a last resort for her as she stopped eating. Unfortunately she was irresponsible breading and had bad genetics all her life. I managed to keep her healthy for as long as I could but you could only do so much. When I looked at the ingredients I was shocked and I would never give this food to a healthy dog. This food would create more problems. Our dachshund is going on raw meat diet. Dr. Mercola has great nutritional packets you could use to supplement your dog. Now I have a hole crate left of this food.

SEEMS TO DO THE TRICK

My vet recommended this food for my picky eater female Maltese. She was losing weight and getting down to a dangerous level. She started out pretty good, even though I still had to mix in some boiled chicken. Interest tapered off and she wasn't on it long enough to notice any appreciable weight gain. I'm getting ready to donate a case and a half of very expensive food to my local animal shelter. In the meantime she and her brother are both going nuts over Primal freeze dried nuggets. Fingers crossed she maintains her interest desire. This is a prescription food. I would recommended it if your vet does too.

Great Food!

My 16 year old sweet dog was refusing all dog food and most people food, except rotisserie chicken and shaved steak. And she was lethargic. The vet suggested this and she loves it, has lots of energy, and new lease on life. This food is expensive, but worth it.

Life Saver

Our 17+ yr old cat was loosing a lot weight and becoming lathargic. Labs were basically normal. When he was only 5 lbs the vet suggested he be euthanized. I did some research and bought a case of CN. Within a week he gained a little bit of weight and energy. A month later and he's back to where he was months ago. CN brought him and us more quality time together. Though I was sceptical because CN is made for both dogs and cats, it's a miracle.( He also receives a urinary dry food as well to supplement the calories and good uninary health.). I'd highly suggest this food. HIGHLY!

It’s got byproducts, etc. not sure about recommending it!

I don’t get why they use byproducts when they have been discouraged from use for lack of quality in pet food. Anyway, my cat, who is quite I’ll slowly stopped eating it within a week, She put herself back on prescription hills k/d and continues to eat it. We hoped she would put weight back on, using critical care diet, buy did not.
