Pets can be sensitive to sudden changes in their diets. For this reason, it is extremely important to follow a gradual transition plan to best support your pet's health and product effectiveness. It is recommended to follow at least a 7-day transition plan before exclusively feeding your pet a new food. Cats will often refuse mixed diets, so we recommend adding the new food to a separate bowl from the old food. Start by mixing 75% of your pet's current diet with 25% of the new diet on Day 1 and Day 2. On Day 3 and Day 4, mix 50% of the current diet with 50% of the new diet. On Day 5 and Day 6, mix 25% of the current diet with 75% of the new diet. On Day 7, you can feed your pet the new food exclusively. Ask your Veterinarian about the best way to transition your pet to a new food.
Transition Day | Current Diet | New Diet |
---|---|---|
Days 1-2 | 75% | 25% |
Days 3-4 | 50% | 50% |
Days 5-6 | 25% | 75% |

This food would be easier for older cats with teeth missing to eat if it was chopped up into smaller bites. My cats will eat it if they are starving but they don’t enjoy it. I wish they had better tasting food the cats enjoy eating.
My cat has had terrible diarrhea ever since I adopted him. Tried several things, then tried Pro Plan EN. It took 2mos, but there has been a great improvement. Stinky Pete isn’t so stinky, he likes the EN, and it works for his digestive issues . Petey is 6 years old and I’ve had him for 1.5 years. He’s had the problem the whole time, and probably before I adopted him. I think that’s why it’s taken time to resolve. A little patience is all you need, along w/EN.
I don't have many choices since I am trying to eliminate my cats diarrhea with a prescription diet. The chunks are rubbery and the cat only eats the gravy. I have started blending it in the blender to make a puree. Now he will eat most of it. Next time I will try the other ProPlan EN canned food to see if it is more palatable.
I don't care how good something is if your cat won't eat it then it is garbage. My cat refused to eat this.
I put in for a reorder for my cat's EN cans for Purina Pro Plan Veterinary Diets EN Gastroenteric Wet Cat Food, 5.5-oz, case of 24 and instead I received Purina Pro Plan Veterinary Diets EN Gastroenteric Savory Selects in Gravy with Chicken Wet Cat Food, 5.5-oz, case of 24. My cat is, however, eating it so no issue.
We have been using the pate version of this for several years. This is now more chunks in gravy. Rupert seems to like it OK, but this is our first case, so I withhold judgement for now. His lack of teeth seems to mean more food debris in his water fountain. Since it's a prescription food, I will perhaps reassess after Rupert's vet check up in 3 weeks.
Chewy never lets me down. During a recent episode in which one of my puppies was "under the weather", I was able to speak with the kindest representative from Chewy. She was so understanding and eager to assist me. I was in the process of changing foods per my Vet. Yes, kitty cat food for a dog! I have always had wonderful experiences in my dealings with Chewy. I would recommend Chewy to anyone who has a pet who needs TLC.
Smokey was diagnosed with pancreatitis and had lost an alarming amount of weight. His fur was also separated indicating too much fat in his food, according to the technician. Since he started eating EN Savory Selects, he gained weight, quit throwing up and his fur looks much better. He also likes the EN dry cat food.
Timely, Tasty for Kitties, prompt and easy. Will continue to use Chewy
Both my senior and my kitten tear this food up! I've finally found a food that they both like and I won't have to give away of throw away. It's very safe for my senior's sensitive stomach. Thank you Purina!
