Can the litter catcher be removed ?

Answer by ChewyJul 07, 2022
The grate step is an independent piece from the litter box and can be removed for easy cleaning or as an optional setting.

What is the HEIGHT of the back and sides?

Answer by ChewyMay 28, 2022
The height of the back and sides is 12.4 inches in height. Additionally, the front entrance height is 5.5 inches in height.

What is the step in height in the front? What are the useable interior dimensions for the litter?

Answer by ChewyOct 26, 2021
The front entrance height is 5.5 inches. The top and bottom interior dimensions are different, due to the shape of this litter box. The top interior measures 19 inches long x 15.5 inches wide. The bottom interior measures 12.5 inches long x 12.5 inches wide (without step) and 19 inches long x 12.5 inches wide (with step).

Will cat pan liners work well in this type of pan?

Answer by ChewyJul 30, 2022

I got this hoping that my cat would be a bit neater. It advertises that the little 'step' helps release litter from the paws. This thing is a disaster. Worse than my regular box in terms of the amount of litter the cat pitches out per use. I'm hoping to return it, it's really surprising how badly this has failed. It's as though, when she aligns herself to use it, her body is perfectly aligned to also pitch a ton of litter back out of the low part when she kicks litter about to cover things up. Two starts because it is nice looking, but-I don't know, maybe for a very neat and smaller cat?

I bought this because I hoped that the step would keep the cats from peeing over the entry, they hang their butts right over the door and pee in the front (they will poop in the back, it must be some weird cat code?). The way the box is designed, if they pee too close or on the step, I have to take a tongue depressor to scoop out the wet clay and it gets stuck in all the grooves. So 3 stars for this reason, but if your cat isn't a jerk about where they pee, it would be 5-stars.

Both of my cats won't go anywhere near this box. It's confusing because they love to get into small cardboard boxes, so I dont think it's the high walls alone. I tried leaving treats in the box (before ever putting litter in), tried luring them in with a churu treat, taping the sides with a paper bag (since they love getting inside paper bags), and even putting old litter in with their urine smell already in it (this got them to sniff inside the box, but they still won't get in it). I wondered if they were afraid of the step with holes, so I tried taking that out. Without the step they'll put a paw in to sniff around, but they are still too chicken to get inside. I'm really at a loss for why they are so afraid of this box. I've tried picking them up and placing them inside the box, but they scream and scratch like I'm trying to drown them, so I don't push it and let them go. It's a shame too because we need a box with high walls since one of my cats is a horizontal pee-er. I'll be searching for a different high-walled box since they are so afraid of this one.

My one cat stands to pee so I needed a high walled litter box. My other cat is elderly though, so I also need one that she can easily get into. This one is perfect. I have the small one and the largest one which is huge! The material also makes it very easy to scoop, the litter doesn't stick.

I had a shorter litter box and there were times that one of my cats would not squat down enough and get some on the back the wall or leak over onto the floor. With going to the higher sides, it has prevented that extra mess.

very small

the step takes up a lot of space, so the area your cat has to potty in is very very small. my cat is pretty petite and this was even too small for her.
