This is only a guide. Optimal feeding amounts may vary according to your pet's temperament, activity level and environment. If you have any questions regarding your pet's health, please contact your veterinarian.
We recommend at least a 7 day transition before you begin feeding the new food exclusively. Start by mixing 75% of the old diet with 25% of the new diet on Day 1 and Day 2. On Day 3 and Day 4, mix 50% of the old diet with 50% of the new diet. On Day 5 and Day 6, mix 25% of the old diet with 75% of the new diet. On the 7th day, you can feed the new food exclusively. This allows your pet’s digestive system to smoothly adapt to the new food.
How are Royal Canin diets preserved?
All of our dry diets are preserved naturally with mixed tocopherols, citric acid, and rosemary extract. Our canned diets are naturally preserved and sterilized during the cooking and canning process.
Where do the ingredients in Royal Canin diets come from?
We select our ingredients based on multiple factors, including the supplier’s compliance with our quality and food safety requirements, consistent availability, and on the nutrients required to meet the dietary needs of the pet.Royal Canin is making strides towards sustainability by attempting to obtain sources of raw materials as close to each manufacturing facility as possible. In some cases, we use international suppliers, because only those suppliers can offer raw materials that comply with our quality and food safety standards.
Why do some Royal Canin diets contain by-products?
Royal Canin chooses ingredients because they deliver high-quality nutrients that support our customized pet food formulas. Using chicken by-product meal instead of chicken meal for example will allow Royal Canin to maintain its highly customized nutrient standards while achieving a more secure and sustainable supply.
Why do some Royal Canin diets contain grains?
Grains can be a healthy part of any cat or dog’s diet. As always, we focus on the nutrients each ingredient provides and grains can provide many important nutrients.
How do you ensure Royal Canin diets are safe for my pet?
Our Quality and Food Safety systems are state-of-the-art and we continue to invest heavily in new technology to make sure they remain that way.* We put our suppliers through a rigorous selection process that doesn’t end with our first purchase.* We monitor every load delivered to our plants to verify the safety and quality of the ingredients we use to make pet food.* We perform tests on finished pet foods before they are shipped to our customers.* We manufacture every pet food we sell, in plants that we own; our plants are ISO 9001:2008 certified for Quality Management and ISO 22000 certified for Food Safety.
How do I know which Royal Canin diet is right for my pet?
Based on size, age, lifestyle, and breed, each cat or dog has unique nutritional needs. For healthy pets, use our Product Selector to find the right diet for your cat or dog.If your pet is experiencing health issues, please refer to your veterinarian for more information. Somethings changed
By Kimdawn on Dec 31, 2020
I’ve been feeding this to my cat for 2 years, if I give him anything else he gets loose stools. This has worked great but in the last month or two he won’t touch about 4 or 5 out of every 12 cans and I can smell the difference in them the minute I open the can...i picked up 6 cans at Petsmart a couple weeks ago and it was the same thing...I threw half of them out....I just don’t know what other brand to try...

So far, so good!
By Victoria on Dec 7, 2020
One of my cats frequently vomits/regurgitates. It got to the point where it was happening just about every day. We literally tried EVERYTHING. Took him to the vet to get labs done, to see if he had a blockage and they couldn’t find anything wrong with him. I bought this food over a week ago and he has only puked once since (maybe due to his old food still going through digestion tract). He loves it and has no hesitation about eating it even though his stomach is very sensitive. Over the past week I’ve noticed that his fur feels much softer, which I’m guessing is due to him being more hydrated and actually getting nutrients. I’m hoping I’ve found the forever solution!

Cats gobble it up
By Vall on Jan 18, 2021
My 2 siamese go nuts for this food, and are very picky eaters. That being said, I gave 4 stars because of the addition of ingredients not appropriate for their natural diet and for low protien content. Once I find a more natural, higher protien food that they'll eat, I plan to switch.

No tummy problems!
By Missy on Dec 16, 2020 Top 1000 Contributor
I have a couple kittys who seem to want to suck up the food so fast was giving them gas and bloating and trying to find something for easier digestion on their bellies and Royal Canin seems to do the trick no more painful gas which was a huge plus now they eat and are able to go play right away if thats what they are wanting to do not go lay down and nurse a sick belly and painful gas! Worked for my babies and they all love the taste! Thanks Chewy super fast shipping!

Favorite wet food
By Finickyduo on Dec 27, 2020
One of my finicky cats has a very sensitive digestive system. He absolutely loves this food!! I feed him half the can in the morning and the other half in the afternoon. He devours it all up. It's a bit pricey, but I'm grateful that it doesn't upset his stomach and he'll eat it with enthusiasm.

Recently changed???
By Katie on Dec 1, 2020
My cat has a very sensitive system. Any change in her food and she will get bad poops. This is one of the only foods she can handle. Recently we’ve received 2 cases and she turns her nose up at it. Chewy has been great about giving us a replacement, which she did eat, but this new one we got she does the same thing. Wondering if it is a bad batch or something changed in the formula.

By Phaedra on Jan 3, 2021
My husband and I adopted a cat with GI issues. We started her on Royal Canin right away, withing 2 weeks her issues were better and no more vomiting or diarrhea. We have had her now 6 weeks and all is good. She loves the food too.

my cat is not a fan
By kathy on Nov 9, 2020
She was eating the chunks in gravy but the pouches were hard to deal with, only available in small quantities so I got the slices in a small package to try. The food looked about the same texture and the cat Ate it. That gave me the courage to buy the case. Well the cans in the case were not the same texture and my cat refused to eat them. They are supposed to be the same flavor but it seems they are not. I have thrown away 4 cans that just get left unbeaten. She won’t even come to the feeding area at dinner any more. Also her poop has come super smelly again and she is vomiting again.

SO far so Good
By AlisonB on Dec 27, 2020
Older Cat has been throwing up off and on and so far so good he has not done that with this food. He gobbles it down and it stays down. It have been about 3 weeks now, so I think if it was going to happen it would.

Miracle Food
By Kaeleigh on Oct 15, 2020
I bought this in a pair with the Royal Canin dry food and let me tell you, it was the best thing I've ever done for my cats. My two boys have very sensitive stomachs and struggle with processing food correctly. I struggled for a year to find food that consistently agreed with my oldest kitty, who is about 6. With this food, I don't have to worry. In the past when I fed my cats wet food, their poop was horrendous: smelled AWFUL, was runny, just terrible. Not with this stuff. Even my picky female cat love it. This is by far the best non-prescription diet food there is for kitties with sensitive tummies!
