Skin health concerns are common and can appear anywhere on your dog’s body. Your veterinarian is the expert on your dog’s health, so you should always consult with this trusted advisor to find the best solutions for your pet. This specialized expertise is why Royal Canin works closely with veterinarians to develop formulas that support skin health.
Pollen, plants and dust are environmental factors that can trigger an immune response in some dogs.
Your veterinarian may recommend a diet elimination trial to help determine if your pet has a sensitivity to certain proteins in his current diet.
Your dog can pick up external parasites such as mites, fleas, ticks and lice from contaminated sources, both indoors and out
Puppies, older dogs, and dogs that have recently been ill may be more susceptible to bacterial infections that can lead to skin health concerns.
Your veterinarian may recommend a Royal Canin Dermatology formula for your dog. These special formulations can:
Aid digestive health by regulating movement through the GI tract and supporting balanced digestive flora
Support the skin’s natural protective barrier
Aid cellular health with a complex blend of antioxidants.
Promote healthy skin and coat by providing long chain omega-3 fatty acids in the diet
With a dry and wet feeding routine, dry food supports positive oral health while wet food supports healthy hydration.
Keep your pet's feeding on schedule. Set your order for Autoship to make sure you always have their veterinarian-recommended nutrition on hand.
What sets Royal Canin apart is their close collaboration with veterinarians. Through these professional partnerships, they strive to learn everything they can about pet health, including how different formulas perform for different breeds, sizes, lifestyles and therapeutic conditions. Ongoing research and development allows Royal Canin to keep providing the precise nutrition dogs need for a range of medical conditions.
After numerous trips to the vet for chronic ear infections, our vet recommended this food. I was reluctant because of the price point, but seeing the pain and discomfort my dog was having multiple times a month even after taking her in for ear cleanings and medications ( she won’t let me touch her ears), I decided to try it. She’s only been on it about two weeks and she hasn’t been having ear issues or scratching/biting at her paws anymore. She also loves the food. I was turned off by the smell of it, but what I think doesn’t matter ! As long as it helps her. In the long run, this food is saving me multiple trips to the vet for the extensive exams, cleanings and antibiotics for her ears. I will keep her on this as long as she lives if it keeps her allergies away!
My Maltese has to be the pickiest kibble eater on earth. It took 4 to 6 days for the switch. She eventually gave in and ate, she is itching much much less. We are able to try new foods or old favorites and we see what things make her flare up. It is a fragrant food. I am glad our vet prescribed it. Her itching was out of control. We still have preventative allergy shots but the food combo helps the total relief. Chewy filled our order with a prescription online with no delay.
The girls have been on royal canine about 3 weeks since we switched brand of dog food. They're cleaning up their bowls now and seem much happier when meal time hits.
It's VERY expensive but the only thing one of my dogs can eat, so it is completely worth it. And my other other dogs go crazy for the smell (which I think is terrible but the dogs love!) and always want a couple pieces as a treat.
Brody is feeling so much better on this food. He has stopped his continuous scratching and he is sleeping thru the night. We also stopped giving him salmon oil.
We were prescribed this food to determine if our dog had an allergy. She acted like it was disgusting, and seemed to always be hungry - even if we gave her extra! It caused major gas - stinky flatulence and burps. We stopped the food trial because it seemed to be making her miserable. Very disappointed after spending SO much money on this!
My dog was prescribed this food to help with his IBD. I was reluctant to try it because we had tried 2 other hydrolyzed script diets and he didn’t like either of them. I’m happy to report that he LOVES this food and his coat is super soft on it. I do think that it may be helping with his IBD, but it is hard to say at this stage because he’s on several medications so I’m unsure how much of it is the food. That said, stools are good and his reflux seems better, too. He has been on it about 3-4 weeks and his specialist said it can take up to 2 months to see the full benefit. She now believes the chicken in his previous script food was a contributing factor and causing his IBD to flare up
After years of trying every diarrhea remedy on the market, hydrolyzed food finally allowed my dog to have normal stools. He eats it up, even though it looks totally unappetizing! IBD and chemotherapy had wreaked havoc on my dog, but things are finally firming up.
Excellent food for a dog with allergies, just wish these manufacturers could figure out a more efficient way to produce it. So expensive.
We really needed a new diet that would be easy on the stomach. The kibble was well received and our dog is now totally on the Ultimino and is not having any gastric issues. Hoping he starts to gain some weight soon. Chewy had the food to us the next day so we were able to start the transition immediately. Thank you.
