Questions & Answers

9 Customer Questions

Is there a so aging +7 for small breeds. My dog is 10 and she is currently eating your small breed so.

Answer by ChewyDec 20, 2020
This variety is suitable for senior dogs of all breed sizes, 7+ years of age. The kibble for this formula is approximately 10 millimeters in diameter. It will be a little bigger than an M&M candy piece.

What is the difference between this and the regular Royal Canin Urinary SO food?

Answer by ChewyJul 08, 2021
This formula supports cognition and promotes vitality in senior dogs with an exclusive blend of nutrients and antioxidants. It also stimulates senior dogs decreasing appetite with highly palatable dry kibble compared to the Urinary SO Dry Dog Food.

does this food contain Ethoxyquin? Also what is the difference between the salt used in SO and Potassium Chloride used in 7+? Is Potassium Chloride safer on aging dogs organs even if they currently are diagnosed with organ issues?

Answer by ChewyAug 07, 2020
Ethoxyquin is not something Royal Canin utilize in their formulas. Thus it is tested for as they do not use suppliers that utilize it either. Potassium chloride is utilized providing 52% Potassium and 48% Chloride for proper acid-base balance and water balance within the body which make these formulas effective.

What is the calorie content of a cup of the SO aging formula? I don't see it listed on the packaging any where.

Answer by ChewyApr 26, 2020
This diet contains 3738 kilocalories of metabolizable energy (ME) per kilogram or 340 kilocalories ME per cup on an as fed basis (calculated).

I'm still transfering my pups food over, doing it slowly for obvious reasons. I'm not too happy with the size of the kibble, very small pieces. My lab is a gobbler, inhaling her food, which can cause her to choke slightly at times. I don't understand why a food for older dogs is made so small, smaller than her puppy food! The biggest issue is the PRICE, it's crazy expensive, not happy about feeling like being taken advantage of because you Need a special diet!!

Yum

My dog had kidney stones and ultimately had surgery to save her life. We spent quite a bit of money to save her and don’t want her to ever go through that again

My dog has never "loved" this food. We doctor it up with chicken or ham and she only eats it later in the day when she's really hungry. I can't blame her. This stuff smells rancid when you open it. Every new bag I get smells the same so I don't think it's a one-off problem. Going to try Hills to see if it's any better. All that said, it does what it's meant for. Cured the urinary issues.

Tried it as an Rx trial: now it’s their daily food of choice!

Originally tried for our older dog’s hot spot. But now both dogs’ coats are noticeably softer. Winston doesn’t like obsessively that one spot anymore either.

Larger Bag, Cheaper Price

Glad to see the larger bag options. I was ordering two of the small bags at a time. Larger bag equals better value, fewer orders, and better stewardship.
