About Royal Canin Urinary Health for Dogs

Worried About Your Dog’s Urinary Health?

Your veterinarian is the expert on your dog’s health, so you should always consult with this trusted advisor to find the best urinary health solutions for your pet. Royal Canin works closely with veterinarians to develop dog formulas that support urinary tract and bladder health.

How Can Nutrition Help?

Your veterinarian may recommend a Royal Canin Urinary dog food formula for your best friend. These special formulations can:

Dilute Urine

This helps your dog urinate more often, which can help minimize time for stones to form.

Lower RSS

RSS methodology predicts urine crystallization and is used to develop diets that reduce the risk of stone formation.

Maintain Balance

A precise mineral balance can also help prevent stones from forming.

Set Up Autoship for Consistent Delivery

Last-minute dietary changes can sometimes upset your pet’s stomach. Set your Royal Canin pet food order to Autoship to keep feeding on track and avoid unwanted disruptions.

About Royal Canin

Questions & Answers

8 Customer Questions

Is there a so aging +7 for small breeds. My dog is 10 and she is currently eating your small breed so.
Answer by ChewyDec 20, 2020
This variety is suitable for senior dogs of all breed sizes, 7+ years of age. The kibble for this formula is approximately 10 millimeters in diameter. It will be a little bigger than an M&M candy piece.

What is the difference between this and the regular Royal Canin Urinary SO food?
Answer by ChewyJul 08, 2021
This formula supports cognition and promotes vitality in senior dogs with an exclusive blend of nutrients and antioxidants. It also stimulates senior dogs decreasing appetite with highly palatable dry kibble compared to the Urinary SO Dry Dog Food.

does this food contain Ethoxyquin? Also what is the difference between the salt used in SO and Potassium Chloride used in 7+? Is Potassium Chloride safer on aging dogs organs even if they currently are diagnosed with organ issues?
Answer by ChewyAug 07, 2020
Ethoxyquin is not something Royal Canin utilize in their formulas. Thus it is tested for as they do not use suppliers that utilize it either. Potassium chloride is utilized providing 52% Potassium and 48% Chloride for proper acid-base balance and water balance within the body which make these formulas effective.

What is the calorie content of a cup of the SO aging formula? I don't see it listed on the packaging any where.
Answer by ChewyApr 26, 2020
This diet contains 3738 kilocalories of metabolizable energy (ME) per kilogram or 340 kilocalories ME per cup on an as fed basis (calculated).

customer service

One would think that the customers service reps would want to end a call on a great note. I kept on receiving emails for a $30 e card for a $100 purchase or more. When I called about it, the rep (Richard) said my product did not qualify. He didn't even try and give me a discount for my future purchases. He acted like any discount he gave me would have been coming out of his own pocket. With all of the money I have given them over the past 12 years with all of my rescue and foster dogs, you would think a 20% discount on an upcoming order would not be a problem at all.

Royal Canin Veterinary Diet Adult Urinary SO Aging 7+ Dry Dog Food excellent

Millie, our 13-year-old Bichon, has been on the "junior" variety of this for 4 or 5 years, and her urinary tract problems have greatly diminished -- and she has loved it. We recently switched to this "senior" (7+) variety. She still loves it and the results are good

Charlie

My Charlie had kidney stones and had to have surgery. The vet recommended this food and it has worked wonders. A year and a half only eating this brand and diet and no further issues

Love it but dogs don't

My girls had bladder stones so were put on this urinary diet. They won't eat it unless mixed with the canned version with gravy.

Emmy likes it!

I’m very happy that Emmy enjoys her prescription kibble. Nice that it comes in a senior formula.

Dog hates it

Ever since the Royal Canin shortage, the dog hates the brand. I don't know if it's a supplier or incredient change, but this was my second attempt to change back to this brand. He used to love it.

Dixie wouldn't eat this, though she was eating dry food before. Apparently it wasn't even tasty.

My dog loves the prescription foods

Been feeding my Katie, Shi-t-zu/Bishon mix, both dry & canned Royal Canin UR. So for about 5 years after having bladder surgery. There was a time I thought my poor dog was leaving me, but with good doctors & this food she is still with me at almost 15 years. Now she is loosing sight & hearing but still acts like a puppy running thru the house after the annoying cat.
