Worried About Your Cat’s Skin Health?

Skin health concerns are common and can appear anywhere on your cat’s body. Your veterinarian is the expert on your cat’s health, so you should always consult with this trusted advisor to find the best solutions for your pet. This specialized expertise is why Royal Canin works closely with veterinarians to develop formulas that support skin health.

Common Causes of Skin Health Concerns

Environmental Sensitivities

Pollen, plants and dust are environmental factors that can trigger an immune response in some cats.

Food Sensitivities

Your veterinarian may recommend a diet elimination trial to help determine if your pet has a sensitivity to certain proteins in his current diet.

Parasites

Your cat can pick up external parasites such as mites, fleas, ticks and lice from contaminated sources, both indoors and out.

Infection

Kittens, older cats, and cats that have recently been ill may be more susceptible to bacterial infections that can lead to skin health concerns.

How Can Nutrition Help?

Your veterinarian may recommend a Royal Canin Dermatology formula for your cat. These special formulations can:

Support digestive health by regulating movement through the GI tract and supporting balanced digestive flora

Support the skin’s natural protective barrier

Aid cellular health with a complex blend of antioxidants.

Promote healthy skin and coat by providing long chain omega-3 fatty acids in the diet

Find The Perfect Balance

With a dry and wet feeding routine, dry food supports positive oral health while wet food supports healthy hydration.

Autoship

Why is synthetic vitamin e used in a food at this price point?

How long is this good once it is opened and refrigerated (with a tight lid)?

Answer by ChewyFeb 26, 2022
Canned diets, once opened, need to be covered and refrigerated in a sealed plastic or ceramic container and used within 48 hrs maximum. The product is naturally preserved with heat, and once opened the fat begins to break down and can spoil after 48 hours. Royal Canin formulators recommend adding a thin layer of water to the top of the can prior to refrigeration to keep the food moist. Any food left out at room temperature, should be discarded after 2 hours.

How many calories are in each wet food can?

Answer by ChewyFeb 09, 2025
This food contains 160 calories per can.

How much phosphorus is in a can?

Answer by ChewyMay 18, 2025
This recipe contains 0.19% phosphorus on an as fed basis and 0.92% phosphorus on a dry matter basis.

I wish this prescription food came in other textures other than puree.

Our cat hates puree. We added water to the food as he does like broths. He just wasn’t eating enough and began to lose weight. We had to switch to a different brand

My cat eats this food, but he HATES it! His life is not an easy one, since he cannot eat most proteins. He tolerates this food, but he does not like it. I really wish this particular food had more gravy in each can! That seems to interest him! I'm just glad he has SOMETHING to eat at all.

My cat has IBD and her weight went down as low as 6.4 pounds. Her whole life she only ate kibbles so finding a wet food she would like was a challenge. She didn't like the Hills diet or Biome, but Royal Canin she quite literally inhaled. Rloyal Canin PD she hasnt thrown up on and it has been very easy on her stomach. Due to her struggle to gain weight, I have been giving her 2-3cans of Royal Canin PD a day. Due to her being on Royal Canin for months her weight is improving. She has gotten her weight up as high as 8.7lbs. This food has quite literally been a life saver for her. Just ordered Royal Canin Gastrointestinal + Kibbles for her to see if that can help fatten her up even more! Love Royal Canin so much for all its help for my furbaby.
