About Royal Canin Gastrointestinal Health For Dogs

Royal Canin, incredible in every detail. Tailored nutritional solutions for gastrointestinal health.
Acute or chronic? If your Veterinarian thinks your pet has a gastrointestinal issue, they may classify it as acute or chronic. Acute conditions appear suddenly and deteriorate rapidly. Chronic conditions develop over time and may worsen gradually.

Worried About Your Dog’s Digestion?

Your dog’s gastrointestinal (GI) system helps support the rest of the body by properly digesting food and making sure to extract the nutrients needed for overall health. Your veterinarian is the expert on your dog, so you should always consult with this trusted advisor to find the best gastrointestinal health solutions and management options for your pet.

Know Your Dog’s GI System

  1. Stomach: the first part of the GI tract, where inflamation may lead to vomitting.
  2. Small Intestine and Pancreas: where the small intestine is responsible for absorption of nutrients within the diet and the pancreas aids in digestion; inflamation of the pancreas may be cause by a high fat diet or treats.
  3. Large Colon (Tranverse): which is responsible for forming stool.
  4. Large Colon (Descending): which is responsible for forming stool; any alteration to this process may lead to constipation or diarrhea.
  5. Rectum: where stool leaves the body

How Nutrition Can Help

Your veterinarian may recommend a Royal Canin GI formula that is

Easily digestible to help reduce the load on the gastrointestinal tract

Formulated with omega-3 fatty acids, EPA, and DHA to aid digestive health and antioxidants to support a healthy immune system

Highly palatable to encourage eating, even when appetite is decreased due to gastrointestinal upset

Balanced for good digestion, with a blend of fibers and prebiotics to support digestive health

Find The Perfect Balance

With a dry and wet feeding routine, dry food supports positive oral health while wet food supports healthy hydration.

There will be approximately 4 cups of kibble per pound. The 8.8 pound bag will have close to 35 cups and the 22 pound bag close to 88 cups.

Does this need to be mixed with water as the bag says?

Answer by ChewyFeb 16, 2023
This food can be fed dry.

Where is this made

Answer by ChewyOct 09, 2022
Royal Canin has manufacturing facilities in Nebraska, Missouri, South Dakota and Guelph Canada.

Does this food help them gain weight?

Answer by ChewyMay 16, 2022
This palatable, digestible dog food supports digestive health with high fat and calorie content, so you can feed your dog small portions to support their sensitive stomach. This also helps underweight dogs or dogs who are eating less get the calories they need. Prebiotics help maintain the balance of good bacteria in the gut. A blend of dietary fibers supports healthy digestion for optimal stool quality. Omega-3 fatty acids, EPA and DHA, from fish oil help soothe the GI tract. And a precise blend of antioxidants supports a healthy immune system. Due to your pets specific health concern, we recommend consulting your Veterinarian to see what would be the safest fit for your pets current treatment plan.

Tummy Food

We are so lucky that this brand is out there. When our boys have digestion problems this is the only food our Vet recommends. They love it so that helps.

Great so far

My 1.5 year old dog was diagnosed with pancreatitis following bloodwork due to his on and off tummy upset. His vet recommended a prescription-based diet moving forward. I went with Royal Canin as it’s the brand I had previously had him eating. My pup has always been a picky eater since day 1, so I was super worried about the switch and his take to a low-fat diet. To my surprise, he LOVES this food! Eats it right up everyday. I pair this with Royal Canin’s GI treats, which he’s also quite fond of! Royal Canin is the best!!! Lifelong customer!

I ordered this several months back and I have been adding Bone Broth, Chicken Broth or Pork Broth to get him to eat it. He continues to walk away from bowl if I do not put additions in. I cut up chicken, put his pumpkin in and trying to get him to loose some weight? Vet says he is over weight. He hates the heat outside so, not as active as he used to be. I am also still adding Forta Flora for his runny poos. He is experiencing a large change in his life with moving back to Florida from South Carolina. Hopefully his stools will get better soon?
