About Royal Canin Dermatology For Dogs

Worried About Your Dog’s Skin Health?

Skin health concerns are common and can appear anywhere on your dog’s body. Your veterinarian is the expert on your dog’s health, so you should always consult with this trusted advisor to find the best solutions for your pet. This specialized expertise is why Royal Canin works closely with veterinarians to develop formulas that support skin health.

Common Causes of Skin Health Concerns

Environmental Sensitivities

Pollen, plants and dust are environmental factors that can trigger an immune response in some dogs.

Food Sensitivities

Your veterinarian may recommend a diet elimination trial to help determine if your pet has a sensitivity to certain proteins in his current diet.

Parasites

Your dog can pick up external parasites such as mites, fleas, ticks and lice from contaminated sources, both indoors and out

Infection

Puppies, older dogs, and dogs that have recently been ill may be more susceptible to bacterial infections that can lead to skin health concerns.

How Can Nutrition Help?

Your veterinarian may recommend a Royal Canin Dermatology formula for your dog. These special formulations can:

Aid digestive health by regulating movement through the GI tract and supporting balanced digestive flora

Support the skin’s natural protective barrier

Aid cellular health with a complex blend of antioxidants.

Promote healthy skin and coat by providing long chain omega-3 fatty acids in the diet

Find The Perfect Balance

With a dry and wet feeding routine, dry food supports positive oral health while wet food supports healthy hydration.

Autoship

Keep your pet's feeding on schedule.  Set your order for Autoship to make sure you always have their veterinarian-recommended nutrition on hand.

Big clumps

We were surprised when the food arrived and it appeared to be a solid block inside of the sealed bag. I called Royal Canin and they said that is how it comes. They said once we opened the bag and air gets in that it will become "regular kibble". When we opened the bag it did break apart some but that was over a week ago and it still has many "clumps" that need to be broken apart. If our vet hadn't recommended this we wouldn't get it again. Hopefully we can determine if our pup has a food allergy or not.

Old English Bulldogge love

So far my highly allergic Bully is doing well with this food. It's only been three weeks since her transition but her coat and skin looks good and healthy. Too early to tell if this will fox all her skin allergies, and we have another 5 weeks to truly see the full effects.

Dog with vomiting

Sheepdog used to vomit large amounts 5/7 mornings from the previous evening's food. Started this, zero vomiting episodes. Only complaint other than extreme cost is that he has hard stools on it and will need to give Miralax sometimes.

life saver!

I have a dog with severe IBD and has been on multiple hydrolyzed diets and they were not hydrolyzed enough for her. She had a few bad relapses that cost thousands of dollars in ER visits and specialty visits 3.5 hours away. She did well on purina EL, but due to the recall we were forced to put her back on a hydrolyzed diet and she started to feel ill again and very lethargic. She had terrible gas, her gut was making lots of loud noises, her bowel movements were yucky again, and she was burping a lot like she felt sick or about to vomit. So this was our last resort and I’m so grateful it worked because I was starting to get worried we would have to make tougher decisions if she had another bad relapse. I’m kind of kicking myself because I wish I had tried this food earlier in her life and probably would have saved thousands of dollars, but it’s okay we lived and learned! So I did more research and RC hydrolyzes this food down more than other hydrolyzed foods, which I found interesting so it’s similar in a sense to EL with the amino acid base diet. If you have a dog with severe food allergies or intolerance try this food!!!! It is pricey compared to other brands, but to me it’s worth the cost! I hope this helps someone dealing with similar issues with their beloved pet because let’s face it we just want them happy and healthy! :) Also thanks to Chewy for the fast delivery so my dog could feel better quicker!! We appreciated you!

Great Substitute for Purina Veterinary Diet El

After the Purina recall of their veterinary EL diet, we found ourselves in a difficult place and in a slight panic. In the past we have tried elimination diets, homemade, raw, and every protein dog food available and nothing has worked besides these ultra-pure foods. Her allergist had given us both the purina and royal canin foods as options, and this seems to be a good substitute for the Purina elemental food she had been eating.

Keep getting bad bags with clumps

This food fixes my dogs dietary problems but lately I've gotten bad bags with clumps of kibble in them. My dog sniffs carefully then refuses to eat kibble from clumpy bags, there is something wrong with them. It's too expensive and difficult to have this happen with such an expensive dog food.

Boxer IBS with allergic components

My boxer is not even 2yrs old, and has been sick for months. Vomiting and diarrhea from everything she would eat. Lost 18 lbs. After many other failed foods, diets, meds, ultrasound, X-rays, blood/ fecal tests, and finally endoscopy, found out what it was and this food has cleared up all her issues and she is already gaining back weight after two weeks!!!
